Seattle & beyond - One month in the Puget Sound region

Yesterday I returned to Oakland after spending a month in the Seattle area to help out with our temporarily short-staffed office. I actually worked a lot - way more than I would have if I hadn’t volunteered for the work assignment – but despite the work load I did manage to squeeze in excursions to various towns and cities in the Puget Sound region. Below are some of the photos I took while out & about in this truly beautiful part of the country!

Nice colorful photos. Living so close, I've been there to see many of these places, it's often got that fresh after the rain look. I think there is something special & idyllic about Washington.

I miss Seattle...

For what it's worth, I have a friend who lives in Sammamish. I begged him to tell me there was a sandwich shop there called Sammamish Sammiches -- there had to be! -- but he said there was not. I was gravely disappointed.

I feel so lucky to have lived there 2015-2018. I really felt at peace living in Seattle. Love how compact and walkable so much of the city is, and devoid of strip malls/chains in the way that LA is full of them.

One thing I don't think people realize is how insanely beautiful the fall colors are in the Puget Sound, and they come much earlier than the Northeast. I was actually up there 3 weeks ago and the city was just bursting in yellow, orange, and red. My favorite time of year there.

Wow, you made it to quite a few spots! Great thread - wherever I travel it's always nice to come home to this place.

Edit: That little brick building in the first pic makes some of the best brunch fare I've ever had!

My god, you covered a lot of ground for one month, and talk about timing with the fall colors.

I wasn't expecting to have a flood of memories come back this morning to my year and a half living there. Leaving right at the start of the pandemic, it practically feels like it never happened, like it was a dream after the last almost two years. Great set, thank you.

Next time, you'll have to take the ferry over and explore the Olympic Peninsula. You'd likely get a kick out of towns like Sequim and Port Angeles.

Absolutely! I wanted time over on the Olympic Peninsula, including an opportunity to visit those places, along with Port Townsend, Poulsbo, and up into the Olympics, as well as other locales on the islands such as Oak Harbor and Friday Harbor, but time was just too limited for those longer excursions. I look forward to visiting them in the future.

Phenomenal set! I was hoping you'd make it back after the last tour de force.

Sooo many places that I just haven't gotten to as a local, or just sped through on a bike trail.

Incredible job OhioGuy! Incredibly and stunningly beautiful city and region. While I knew the core of Seattle was urban, I had no clue all of the walkable, urban neighborhoods and towns existed outside of the core except maybe Bellevue. Very cool to see.

I haven't been to Seattle since 2008, and would LOVE to go back one day soon. This thread makes that itch even stronger.

Agree 100% that Seattle and the surrounding region is a top 10 in the US for me. NYC, Chi, LA, Philly, DC, SF, Boston, Miami, Seattle for me. Still searching for my solid #10

Now that is how you do a photo thread! You made Seattle and vicinity look great.

For only being here a month you must have visited a different neighborhood / town every day, maybe more! Well done.

Fantastic set of Seattle. Lived there for more than a decade and loved it. Lots of familiar places in the photos.

I have conservatives (brainwashed by far-right propaganda) here in Texas living in trailer parks telling me that West Coast cities like Seattle are "shitholes". I've been told to never go to the West Coast because it's "filled with communist cities being burned to the ground and have dying economies".

With that being said I am not discounting that there are issues in Seattle (issues that come with being a successful/innovative/educated city in our capitalist system -- it has become expensive BECAUSE it is desirable).

Great pictures! It took a while for me to get through them!

My favorites were #85, with the skyline on one side, and Mount Rainier on the other. I wonder what the view is like from on top of those houses, with nothing obstructing it. I also like #225, with those apartments on top of the water.
