Thank God they're cleaning that whole west side of river north up. No reason they're should be this much surface parking, underutilized short buildings, and gas stations this close to the CBD. Next they needa clean that whole Cabrini Green area up, though I did see an article of high rises planned in that area which is great.

Cannot wait to see this development progress. This is going to do so much to extend the CBD north to Old Town Park and beyond as well as break up the horrid street presence of Moody's.

In a Crain's article, JDL said they're breaking ground on 920 N. Wells this month and 878 N. Wells in a few months. This would actually be ahead of their initial timeline, 920 N Wells was going to be a part of phase 2

The land is owned by a bible college that has been in the area since the late 1800s. The buildings on the site (a gym, a mail center, etc.) are mostly 1-2 stories and the rest of it is parking and open space. The purple area is where this project is going. The first building that is about to start construction is in that surface parking lot on Wells/the edge of the area. The yellow area I believe will be where Moody will redevelop their campus.

Yeah, it will be great when the city doesn't seem to suddenly disappear after you walk west of Washington Square Park.

North of Chicago ave, west of Lasalle the density falls off big time.

You mean Wells St. LaSalle is a block east. The late phase in yellow by a different developer will impact LaSalle

Yes thx. Though its true both are a dead zone but this development will only remedy that on Wells.

I drive down this stretch of wells street nearly every day, taking my kid to daycare. So much potential as it's already filled with more pedestrians than cars. Already the strip between Hill street and Division is transformed with the Onni development (will be better when they get retail tenants in place).

I did not realize the Moody side (in yellow) would be receiving any redevelopment. Are there any loose plans? Moody has to be a school that is making an unprecedented amount of money from real estate, which, thankfully for them, is the only way it survives given it has no tuition (just room and board).

Mr. Chicago here,
The Moody project is the perfect project for the perfect spot. Division Street
area can use some more energy. The area needs to connect better with the
Northside. Speaking of connecting neighborhoods, the elevated train does act as a barrier leaving Orleans Street orphaned. Hope the Moody project can spread its energy to the Cabrini area. Too bad the el. cannot be rebuilt to something sleek and modern. However old things can be made useful. Simply paint and repair the structure and give it some personality.
