For fun, if you ever check out the Canadian forums, there are certain posters on Skyscraperpage there that love to bolster their communities, whether it be for weather (which city in Canada is the 'warmest'

) or which provinces are least economically depressed (it's not the one that speaks mostly French).

Also some of the most prolific Skyscraperpage posters in Canada post random trivia about their far flung provinces that may or may not even have highrise buildings to begin with ironically enough.

My top 5 favorite cities in Europe that I've been to, and in no particular order:

Copenhagen, Brussels, London, Berlin, Geneva.

France, Spain, Italy are the countries with the collection of some of my most favorite cities in Europe though.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber for the ultimate medieval fantasy city, and dress up in medieval and fantasy costumes everyday!

Venice to visit but it's not practical to live there.

For all round big city retail/entertainment/job prospects etc it's London. No contest.
For character, beauty and history it's Rome.
Best "small city"? Cambridge is lovely.

I would pick Saint Petersburg. Really dig this city for its architecture and museums. Fell in love with it when I had a cruise on the Volga river, it was a trip from Astrakhan to Moscow. It lasted 14 days and cost about 1500 euros. One of the best trips I have ever had.

I feel that way about Lucca, Italy, even though I loved Florence and Rome.
I think expectations have all to do with it. Lucca, not on the beaten path for many travelers was lovely. Meanwhile, Rome and Florence had such great expectations to fill, they mostly fulfilled them but still.
