I know...sad thing is the zoning is already there for something significantly tall too..shame this developer didnt want to take advantage of that

I’m sure they want to; just don’t have the funding. Good to see this is moving forward. Another great site where we’ll able to watch the action from above.

^ If this is a Magellan investment, then I made a poor assumption.

This project has nothing to do with Magellan... that's 300 N. Michigan.

That line was moved over towards the west property line in 2007. The documents for the Mandarin might cite the need to move the river water line, but the documents for this new proposal shouldn’t–the line was moved, and it’s not in the area shown by the building footprint.
I assume that is what is going on here in this picture I took.

Was supposed to start pre-COVID but there were a few false starts and now it is most likely dead with CA Ventures. That site has some bad mojo.

Hopefully something way taller and more interesting rises eventually. Isn't this site zoned for something taller?

This building is nice looking but there aren't too many good lots left in Chicago, better to take advantage

Not sure how tall it can go but it's in the same PD as the rest of Lakeshore East so I'm assuming it can go at least as tall as Vista.

I personally would rather see some 800'+ tall towers go up elsewhere so as to extend the skyline to the north, south, or west. There's already plenty of height in LSE especially with Tribune Tower East and 400 NLSD coming up hopefully soon.

Yeah, but, wouldn't it be better if there was also an 800-footer here, too? Why not both?

Of course, that would be great. But I'm not expecting the recent boom we experienced to continue for much longer. So with a presumed slow down in high rise construction, I'd rather see it extending or filling in the skyline elsewhere. I don't think the citizens of the west loop would be too thrilled about a 47 story building in their neighborhood so I guess it would have to go north or south.

I'd be just fine if the current proposal died.

Yeah, honestly this site is ripe for a new top-5 supertall at some point. With everything built out in LSE in 5 years, this site will become even more valuable. This would be the perfect spot for a new tallest.

I remember there was a pending building permit for this, and yeah, it's not in the system anymore

Anyone have any news since last month? I was walking by and did see four CDOT construction cones in the lot. Might mean nothing though.
