I hope they're right and that BIG has nothing to do with the redesign. I like some of his work but not for the WTC.

Foster's tower was a work of art.

I would even go so far as to say that Foster's 2wtc design will be seen by architectural scholars as his magnum opus.. his ultimate masterpiece

Its his 9th symphony, his Mona Lisa, his David, his War & Peace

Since its inception, I've always wanted to see this building come to life! While the WTC is a huge compromise on all sides to even get it built this far, it would've been something to have seen the light shine from the top of 2WTC to the windows atop the Oculus on the 20th anniversary.

There's still hope that we'll see this design again! Maybe for the 25th anniversary, we can enjoy the completed site without construction work nearby (that is, til 5WTC begins to rise)!

As long as it doesn't look like his PENN 15 or 350 Park ave. He seems to be into incorporating outdoor spaces but doesn't always nail the forms. Just my opinion.

These articles suggest that there will be a new design by Foster. Thus, it seems that 200 Greenwich is dead.

I hope that the Good Lord (I.e., Foster) and Larry have the sense to make this a mixed use because unless they have a deep-pocketed Middle Easter investor willing to finance a spec tower, this won’t be developed for a very long time if it’s a 2.8m sf office tower. Anchor firms seeking 1m sf+ want to be in Midtown.

350 park rocks IMO, but wouldn't fit the WTC site.

PENN 15, well... that's a massive disaster

Keep this in mind, I think much of the reason Foster was retained for this project is to reuse the foundations as much as possible and not have to redo the basement levels under 2 wtc.

It might be more of a half step then a total redesign.

Agree wholeheartedly. I LOVE 350 Park, but absolutely NOT for part of the World Trade Center complex. It just doesn't fit there. And the less said for Penn15, the better. Even Foster can lay a bad egg every now and then. Hopefully forward thinking with the 15 or so years since the original Foster design, but still classic and taking some inspiration from the past, like the original design. Hopefully NOTHING like the BIG design disaster either.

Let’s keep this focused on 2 WTC. We’ve already known Foster was working on an updated design. I’m just surprised we haven’t seen anything of it by now.

Foster’s 2 WTC design looks so cyberpunkish and futuristic, but still I’m not going with it. I like BIG’s better because it’s beautiful and eco-friendly.

^This is also my favorite, though it would probably cost too much.

The chance for a twin of Child's 1WTC was gone long before the first one was started. 2WTC's site is too narrow between Vesey and Fulton, the foundations are incompatible, and the site's way too far and misaligned from 1WTC for a twin to look in any way good.

The reason the original WTC twins "worked" was because of their simple box shapes.

Twins using the new tower design wouldn't work (see photo above).

The current 1WTC design is pretty good but I think the spire could be improved with some "cladding".

Yeah, they're not building a twin, I don't know why it keeps popping up, especially here. There's a thread to dwell on that, but we're looking forward to Foster's new design now, to be judged when we see it.
