888 Brickell:
Address: 888 Brickell Ave
Size: 38 floors, 472 feet tall, 304,950 square feet of office space.
Architect: Arquitectonica
Ground floor restaurant and retail space.

The design is ok but I wish this could be twice as tall as proposed but what can you do with a lot that is only half an acre ?

Current building :

Good news, this, along with 1111 Brickell Bay Drive, was approved by the Urban Development Review Board.

UDRB Approves Flashier Design For 888 Brickell Office Tower

Quote:
Miami’s Urban Design Review Board has approved plans for a 38-story office tower at 888 Brickell after it was redesigned by Arquitectonica.

Arquitectonica’s Raymond Fort, the 28-year-old son of the company’s founder, is overseeing design of the project.

Originally, the architect proposed a more subdued design for the building, which was to be framed with a dark, modern-looking steel exoskeleton. Board members rejected the plans on Dec. 7 as being too boring.

The new design calls for a multi-color exoskeleton, with additional lighting and framing. UDRB members were taken with the flashier design, and voted to recommend approval on Dec. 21.

You know you're dealing with Miami when the Urban Design Review Board rejects a design because it's "too boring." I love it.

In the link, someone commented on it saying this:

" The board was taken with colors being added to the original design?
I guess they were on LSD. Architectonica needs a break to recharge their creativity batteries….".

But now that I think about it, with regards to Architectonica, its kinda true lol.

Arquitectonica was Miami's avant garde architectural firm whose unique designs over 3 decades ago made them stand out at the time.
Many people have been critical of them since a lot of their recent designs for Miami has a cookie cutter element to it.
One would think they would be kinder to their hometown .

888 Brickell Office Tower Submitted For Planning & Zoning Approval

Quote:
888 Brickell has been submitted for review by Miami’s Planning & Zoning Department.

The tower was reviewed and approved by Miami’s UDRB in December, but still needs department approval. The exterior of the proposed tower is now colorful rather than gray, at suggestion of the UDRB.

Instead of a new submission under Miami 21, the developers are requesting to modify a warrant previously approved for the .52-acre site that included both office and residential space.

Arquitectonica is the architect.

@ Altoic ,

There is an existing project. This is a long term project, hence the delays, but latest news is fantastic.

Merged your post into the original thread and renamed title to include latest information. Major = 888 Brickell.

This one, 888 Brickell and Waldorf Astoria are pretty much going to happen. Especially Waldorf.

Another, One Bayfront Plaza, appears to have good odds but we will see with that one.

Also, keep an eye out for 1420 South Miami Avenue.

^^^^

MAJOR is 888 Brickell, it's just the marketing name (MAJOR that is). Same project. I think it might of been how I wrote it above. I meant "this one", meaning the project in this tread. But my fault... the comma made it confusing.

Point being, a lot is happening in Miami!

Jesus. Is Miami ever getting to get a Supertall? I hope it does, but I feel like there's been 27 Supertall proposals for 5 years now.
