SHENZHEN | Nanshan Science and Technology Union Building | 307 M / 1,008 FT | FL

Very, very big development:
==================================

Quote:
LXD Mixed-use Development
Shenzhen, China

This is LXD Mixed use development of 13.73 hectares site for office, retail and residential uses. The site is located at Liuxiandong of the west Shenzhen. Liuxiandong Masterplan is aimed at creating a low carbon community and being the role model on economic growth for new cities development.

We divided the site into 3 phases with commercial on the north, retail in the middle and residential on the south. 3 phases are connected with terrace, flyover and underground arcades.

The site is surrounded by mountains and there is a planned green corridor on the south. We designed a building height sequence to have coherence with the surroundings by reflecting the trend of the mountains. In addition, with consideration of viewing corridors in our design, people in all building could enjoy the view of mountains, planned green corridor and retail roof garden.

In order to form a low carbon community, our design is combined with roof gardens, sky gardens for offices, shared balconies for all residential units and recycling and reusing of rainwater as well as ventilation design with consideration on the specific Southeast monsoon climate.

We believe our design could form a role model as a green community and better living style for the surrounding new cities development.

I was just reading something on affordable housing in China, and they plan 36 million units of affordable housing by 2015. That's the goal for that.
