The end of the runway is less than 2 miles east of Lake Eola.
What I believe you are seeing is a smaller airstrip next to downtown. I don't know how many small aircraft use that strip, but i'm sure it has more to do with the height restriction than the main airport.

The Orlando Int Airport is roughly 9-10 miles away from downtown

That's correct. It is due to the proximity of the Orlando Executive Airport just East of downtown rather than Orlando International.

Nice, I saw this when I was there last month, but paid it little attention. Nice little filler (though if I'd rather have a view of Lake Eola if in the market down there).

Construction cam. Make sure you choose the SkyHouse Apartments - Orlando window.

Do pilots just suck ? Flight path is WAY to the right of the CBD in the picture. And a single-engine plane can be at altitude higher than SunTrust within seconds.

My thoughts exactly. I don't see why a new tallest cannot be built around the Central / Orange intersection -- it is not in a flight path, it is not near one.

Otherwise, we need to build up Parramore and groom it for highrises.

Perfect for Orlando. They definitely need to build up their core.
