No....say it isn't so!!! We love Prairie Sun and it has become our neighborhood pub. I hope these rumours are not true. I am sure Covid was extremely hard on ALL restaurants, but Prairie Sun seems to have bounced back pretty well this summer!

Prairie Sun has been struggling ever since they opened. They have many unpaid creditors who hope that they stay solvent in order to have a chance to pay off their debts.

It's a pretty damning reflection on the ownership/management of that place. Sure they've had to deal with Covid, as has everyone else in the hospitality industry, but you couldn't really ask for a better location for a brew pub. New building purpose built as a brew pub in the heart of Broadway and you can't make a go of it? Even with their own beer being second rate, they should still be able to do a booming business selling food and other craft beers.

A quick update on the Prairie Sun situation. They’ve now officially announced that they’re under new ownership (at least Facebook official). While there has been an asset management company with majority ownership for many months, they’ve now fully bought out the founders of Prairie Sun. Hopefully, they will now pay out all of the outstanding debts and get this place managed in a professional manner. If we get really lucky, they may even start brewing decent beer

Hearth is moving into the restaurant space at Remai Modern and providing catering services there.

Hearth chosen as new restaurant for Remai Modern

Rogers and Robstad will begin running the gallery’s catering in October. They expect to have Hearth move to the gallery from its current location on Melrose Avenue in 2023.

Hearth

Hearth moving into the Remai is fantastic news. I have been to Hearth many times and have always been impressed by the quality of their food. Now they will have a beautiful restaurant space to match. Big win for both parties.

There was a rumour at one time that it might be the old Grainfield's from the Grosvenor Park Shopping Centre. The current Grainfield's website states "We are coming soon..." and boasts two Saskatoon locations, only one of which is currently operational.

I'm excited as an eastside TD customer -- their current spot on 8th is terrible to access with right in-right out and no back lane connection. I'll often go out of my way to Stonebridge to avoid the hassle, unless I plan on continuing down 8th Street for other errands.

The lack of a back lane connection makes no sense, it would make it much easier to navigate. But I find a lot of the parking lots on 8th make no sense. The Popeye's lot is horrendous...

It's not clear in their past press release: https://static1.squarespace.com/stat...n+Projects.pdf

There's still an available CRU in each the Nutrien and East Towers facing the plaza. Neither are particularly large (the East Tower space looks bigger) but maybe they are planning for a pretty cozy little space.

The other possibility is the top floor space in the East Tower.

Boardwalk - Fries, Burgers and Shakes

The newest location for the company at 45-2403 Preston Avenue S opened its doors yesterday. The food is OK, at best, but is no Pink Cadillac's or Fudruckers. I was a little underwhelmed by it all. The service was excellent.

I see Liberty Kitchen is part of that group--they're opening in the former Famoso Pizza place in the Lawson mall parking lot.
