What's that huge, heinous building with all of the globes on the roof? Hopefully, it will be razed soon.

Its a terremark datacenter so things like satellite communications, fiber optics, communication equipment is stored in it. Its like Miami's version the AT&T Long Line building in NY. (the one with no windows downtown, concrete fortress).

The tower looks good but they need to start on its twin already.

Three More Worldcenter Towers Set To Break Ground In 2018

Quote:
With our without Amazon, at least three more towers will begin construction this year at Miami Worldcenter

A Worldcenter representative told The Next Miami that the three towers set to break ground this year are:

* MDM’s 54-Story Marriott Marquis Hotel & Expo Center, now with 1,700 rooms and 600,000 square feet of convention space (Q4 2018)

* Zom’s 44-story Luma with 439 apartments (Q2 2018)

* Hines 45-story, 500,000 square foot mixed-use office tower (Q4 2018)

Worldcenter also announced that their newly topped off 43-story apartment tower has been renamed Caoba.

A second 40-story apartment tower sharing a podium with Caoba is also planned. It will not share the same name, and no groundbreaking date is known to project representatives yet.

Pre-leasing at Caoba will begin this fall, with opening scheduled for fall of 2018.

If Amazon picks Miami, where would HQ2 be? Those who know have been sworn to secrecy

Quote:
The details of Miami’s bid to lure Amazon to build its second headquarters in South Florida have been scarce — and are about to get more so.

On Thursday, the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, which is spearheading the effort to bring the $5 billion Amazon HQ2 to South Florida, asked all participants to sign non-disclosure agreements, said sources close to the project. Amazon chief Jeff Bezos reportedly has insisted on secrecy as the short-listed cities move into the second round of requests for information.

Since Amazon announced a list of 20 finalist cities on Jan. 18, the speculation in the media has grown to March Madness proportions. The question buzzing through Miami: If Amazon picked our city, where would the headquarters be located?

Miami’s original bid reportedly included eight potential sites — five in Miami-Dade, two in Broward and one in Palm Beach — that would fulfill Amazon’s HQ2 requirements of an initial 500,000 square feet of existing office space, on-site access to public transport, proximity to airports and livable, lively communities.

Amazon’s latest request for information has whittled down the number of sites being considered, Beacon Council President Mike Finney told a group at a conference hosted by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce earlier this week.

The number of local sites now under consideration is “much lower than eight,” Finney said. He would not disclose the next response deadline but noted Amazon’s stated intention of naming a site by the end of this year, calling it “a fairly tight timeline.”

Hines Mixed-Use Tower At Miami Worldcenter Could Include Residential

Quote:
Hines is considering adding residential units to their 45-story 110 10th mixed-use tower, set to break ground this year at Miami Worldcenter.

Earlier this week, architect Pickard Chilton’s website was showing that the tower would include 12 floors of office and 14 floors of residential, along with retail on the lower portion. The website was later modified after The Next Miami asked Hines to confirm the residential development.

Hines’ website also published a profile of the project manager for 110 10th, stating that he was particularly interested in residential micro-units.

“When Hines approaches a new ground-up development, our priority is meeting market demand, returning value to our investors, and creating something architecturally prominent and additive to the built environment. From the time Hines launched 110 10th Street at Miami Worldcenter, we have envisioned building up to 600,000 square feet of Class-A office space, and that plan remains intact. Our initial market analysis indicates strong demand for both office space and multifamily units, so we are keeping our specific plans flexible for the time being. Regardless of what Hines ultimately brings to market, the result will be a well-located, well-connected asset that complements the retail, residential, hotel and commercial uses at Miami Worldcenter,” said Mark Clegg, Vice President, Corporate Communications for Hines, in a statement released to TNM.

Hines will be funding development with equity.

Multiple well-placed sources familiar with Miami’s Amazon HQ2 bid have stated that the tower is being offered as shovel-ready office space.

Construction is still slated to take place this year, a Worldcenter spokesperson said. The project still hasn’t been review by Planning & Zoning.
