Taco Bell - is nothing sacred?

Looks like another neighbor might be biting the dust

(I assume/hope this is a placeholder design and will be modified for whatever tenant(s) line up)

I used to live around the corner and yeah it will be sad to see the mayhem aka wrigleville that took place around taco bell and mcdonalds year round. But we all knew this was bound to happen when mcdonalds was taken over for a hotel and the rest of the convertion of neighborhood. growing up and in my college days i'd be pissed about the changes but as an adult not only was this inevitable but I think a good thing for the times of change. Keep the classic bars but clean up the scraps.

I'm over the moon to see that POS Taco Bell go the way of the suburban McDonald's and the suburban 7-Eleven and the suburban donut shop and the suburban car wash that used to zit this area up.

I like my buildings touching the sidewalk.

Far fetched and would never happen but would be cool if that site and cubby bear teamed up to make a joint project and have a massive rooftop bar/lounge with a bridge over the backway connecting them. Im not sure what the laws/regulations are, or where to look them up. But that would be a cool location for a micro-brew. Apartments on top of course.

I'm surprised this isn't 5 stories taller and incorporates residential. Maybe they are deterred by Addison Park on Clark going up, but this is 2 blocks to the Red Line.

And I stand by that. There's essentially a parking lot sitting just east of the Taco Bell. Is that included in this proposal? Or left forever empty? The frontage on Addison should be closed off. If they need an alley, they can get access from Eddy. Is there a reason they can't take that land?
And is it known how far west this extends? I have a friend who lives in the building just west of the Taco Bell.

That's a great picture, but it is already out of date and it's just a week old! They are moving at a breathtaking pace. Most of the plaza has been bricked, they have built the stanchion for the "Brand" Plaza sign. The glass is up on the clock tower. The Starbucks sign is up on the Clark street facade of the office building. They are working on the next level of columns for the hotel. The Nuveen sign has been pulled for the new logo. Finally, They are bringing the sod in. That is just the easily seen stuff. There must be 100+ workers there each day.

Plaza opens on April 10, which is also Opening Day. LOTS of events already scheduled. Weekly farmer's markets. Movies. Concerts.

Website for the plaza up and running - https://www.parkatwrigley.com/

Earthcam is interesting - http://www.earthcam.com/usa/illinois...rigleyfield_hd

I think it is still in. I cannot tell for sure. The glass is up and they were lifting big packages to the roof today. I just cannot figure out how they would handle the clock face. I see no holes for mechanics. Maybe it is all LED projected lights. Not sure.

Outdoor movies programmed by the Music Box – a nice touch.

Are there any other structural engineers in here that attended the SEI biennial lecture series last week.. with the presentation by Bill Bast from Thornton Tomasetti about the renovations of Wrigley?

Pretty interesting stuff!

The Park at Wrigley, looking somewhat like it will when the Cubs are playing at home. Only people with game tickets can be here during games

Cubs hat display at the store. 590 slots, around 200 different styles.
