Not seeing any of the outrage over the random louvres not matching the glass while there was plenty with Vista. I wonder why

^ prolly because its hidden away in a less prominent spot of the building vs being smack dab in the middle of vista's most photographed angle from grant park...the fact most people prolly never even noticed this until you brought it up shows that its been hidden fairly well as opposed to Vista

Amazing vantage and also an excellent shot of that L shaped parking lot apparently owned by Loyola next to Lawson House that was previously discussed.

That's the only surface lot I can see in that pic. Hopefully Loyola builds something nice.

I like how this building fuses old and new architectural styles and I like how it has an elevated park and I like how there is a setback from the street, allowing the street to be more open.

I said this before and i'm going to say it again, that red line mcdonalds next to this building is a stain on our city. Not only is it a crime magnet, its a fucking suburban fast food joint with a drive thru literally right next to a subway stop.

Prime spot for a massive mixed use project. Mcdonalds will pay for cursing our city with so many suburban buildings through out our city and refusing to sell lol.

Can't disagree. It won't last forever, but it will probably last a pretty long time. But I definitely see that location going before the one next to Portillo's.

A bit over the top (“stain on our city”?)

But yeah, it’s a poor use of land and full of rather shady people, but isn’t that what cities are about? We can’t have everything be sterile playgrounds for rich assholes like you and me, we need a place for crack dealers to do their thing too.

Best solution is to have the site redeveloped into a highrise while McDonald’s continues to occupy the base. Then everybody wins

Definitely a huge downgrade for the ground/street level design between removal of the fountain, greenery moat, and awning removal.

No. Why take the trees that were nicely separating the street from pedestrians and move them in order to separate pedestrians from the nice ground floor windows. I'd guess to impede future mobs/rioters? but from a design perspective, I think it a loss.

^ Chicago a leader in water features?...sorry wish that was true...name me some nice water features that have been built in this city in the last 20 years (outside of grant park)?...its a shame this was removed because these type of creative fountains/water pools could add to the street level landscape of this city.

Not necessarily new ones but Buckingham Fountain, the Centennial Fountain, the water feature at the Hancock Center, and the fountains by the Art Institute.
