What a horribly unattractive building...

We need the RBC building and Eleven to get further out of the ground so we can start showing off some larger towers.

Hoping North Loop Green and Alia get going soon too!

Thanks for posting that, heard it on NPR today. In retrospect it is horrifying they did this in the first place. I can see merging lots, but why THAT street!!!???

Hope they actually move on it and can get the road reopened - and hope they can do something useful with the freed land.

I won't hold my breath on a street car, though...seems those things take forever or never.

It appears the 18 story luxury apartment tower under construction at 3650 Hazelton Rd has had a name change. Signage on site indicates the new name is The Bower Residences. Images below taken in the last few days.

All of Edina's highrises are relatively the same height. I wonder if/when they might get something a bit more significant. Even something in the 30 story range.

They seem to be encouraging density around the Southdale area, but at least one high-rise project proposed for France Ave was killed due to opposition from the single family neighbors that would have been in its shadow. The Sun Current article I posted a link to mentions it.

The only other high-rise proposal I’ve heard of is the possible residential tower that would accompany the new Southdale library and a Kowalski’s market on the site of the former Herbergers. That one would be 20-22 stories according to this article:

I’m just glad to see anything taller than the standard cookie-cutter 1+5 stick built on a concrete base apartments going up everywhere. I’m glad for some of those, like Aria at 66th and York that took the place of the long-vacant Best Buy, but it’s gotten pretty boring.

It was a 6 story apartment building slated for affordable housing. 190 sorely needed units reduced to ash. I believe it was going to be called Midtown Corner.

Talking with friends who are first responders and seeing things first hand; a large number of the instigators are white males in tactical gear arriving in large numbers in vehicles with no plates. These guys are very organized and are creating chaos within large crowds then splintering off, pretty much making law enforcement chase them around, then disappearing into residential neighborhoods.
These guys are clearly not a part of the neighborhoods, the residents of these neighborhoods have been the ones cleaning up and trying to help.
I could go on and on, story after story.
Minneapolis will come back and we will rebuild, but this is a scar that will take a long time to heal.
We know from our local leaders there will be changes, there have to be, we can't go through this again. The economic disparities in our city between people of color and whites is astounding and needs to change.
