The new lounge in concourse B is just another Delta Sky Club. I would love to see another airline lounge or a 3rd party lounge at SLC

There will be two new lounges built in Concourse B:

In Phase 3, a second Delta SkyClub will be built near the center hub of the concourse (photos of the foundations for the SkyClub are shown in the October 2022 board slides).

In Phase 4, a 15,000 square foot "third-party lounge" (with outdoor deck) will be built between gates B29 and B31 (featured in the Phase 4 Level 3 plans in the September 2022 board slides).

Updated Long Term International Strategy.

As I understand, Delta wants/needs the center runway lengthened to make the Seoul route happen. They are also likely waiting for more gate space since the airport is pinched to say the least. In 2019 the airport had 56 gates and ~20 E gates (hardstand and ramp). Today they have 46 gates and about 20 hardstands. This year's traffic is almost back to 2019 levels with 2023 expected to break records. SLC really needs more gates before Delta (or anyone else) can think about major growth.

I can't imagine any Oceania flights happening from SLC. That seems unreasonable.

Seoul for sure. If another Europe flight happens, maybe seasonal FCO with Delta? Any other foreign airlines from Europe? I read somewhere that the eurowings flight didn't perform well and that are dropping from 3x per week to 2. I was hoping Lufthansa would takeover that route. Maybe Icelandair?

Latin America, maybe Panama? Costa Rica? Can't imagine much demand for South America

Oceania is next to 0 chance, especially considering Delta just started their LAX-PPT service alongside the existing Air France service on that route.

The only extremely remote possibility is that Air France adds a CDG flight that continues on to PPT (as their LAX flight does), but I have no delusion that the demand for that exists.

A runway extension is not needed to service ICN, but initial service makes most sense being served by a Korean Air 787 for that route. Delta could likely use their A330-900neo, but would have to block some seats during certain times of the year based on temperature.

Finally, South America is undoubtedly the most likely expansion beyond ICN, as LATAM is now a joint venture partner of Delta, so it opens up many more LATAM destinations. There is also likely enough demand to expand into certain Central American destinations anyway.

Yes, they do! AF still served CDG-LAX-PPT. French Bee still served from CDG-SFO-PPT, and UA still served SFO-PPT, as well.

PS. Welcome to Skyscraperpage. Hope you enjoy for your stay.

The new taxi lane between A and B concourses is now open, which means a quicker path to the east runways. This translates to less time on the ground and more time in the air.

Also, sorry for the small picture, but concourse A East is coming along nicely. They're polishing the terrazzo.

Wasn't the original intention for the central tunnel to have a people mover/ shuttle subway? I just see the typical fast walk stuff. I just took the current tunnel to Terminal B and that was a super long, annoying walk.

Not until Concourse C is being built will they build the train/people-mover. So it sounds like when Concourse B East is done, they'll open up the central tunnel for walking (and keeping the existing west tunnel open as well), and then they'll start building the train to open along with Concourse C.

The spaces have been constructed in the central tunnel to accommodate the future people mover. They are also exploring adding electric shuttles in those tunnels until such time.

Right! They have wait for next decade later. Still have to be done for construction the concourse B East. Probably 2025 or 2026. Also. hardstand will be removed. They will adding more gates at the concourse B East.

They are keeping hardstands, just moving them to the end of Concourse B in 2026/2027. Part of the airport's plan to cater to low cost carriers. They'll have 96 gates with B concourse, we won't be seeing C anytime in the 2030s and likely not in the 2040s either.

Isn’t Concourse C not supposed to be built until the late 2050s? So it will probably be a long time until we see that train… unless big demand happens that requires plans to be moved up dramatically.

I’m kind of sad that the new airport didn’t include any local, eating establishments… seems all commercial now. I miss the Greek Salvokie.
