Yeah I hope so too, though 16 on Center is also opening a food hall at the Old Post Office soon, so that might be taking more of their focus.

Bro they need to put some digital billboards around Michigan Ave. Obviously not like Times Square, but more like Piccadilly Circus in London. Make the Mag Mile interesting and an experience. People literally come from all over to the bright lights in Times Square/Picadilly Square/Dundas Square (Toronto). We need that in Chicago.

^ Back when Uniqlo and Top Shop were around, the lights and reflective materials were total opposite of the design opinions of the early 2000’s. It showed more modern flashy architecture could still be a great fit. That was also proven with Burberry. Not certain about giant LED billboards. But maybe if placed behind glass windows with the brightness managed, it would work out fine.

Garish, painfully bright digital billboards advertising the latest Ye collaboration with Balenciaga are not needed. The Mag Mile is world's apart from Times Square, even Picadilly Circus, in that it's a straight thoroughfare, not a gathering space like those two examples.

Mag Mile is like a mix of Park Ave and Wilshire Blvd back when Wilshire Blvd had more department stores or just shopping in general.

I wouldn't mind a street that has a lot of bright lights but not in the form of ads - just in general for the shops/restaurants/etc there like what you see in parts of Asia (i.e. Nanjing Road in Shanghai in some ways or some areas of Tokyo). You could probably make State St like that if you really wanted TBH.

I don't think Mag Mile should be though - it's kind of a different animal..and lights in the form of all advertisements is pretty MEH.

Grade level front doors are great if you have relatives that are elderly or have mobility issues. Also uses up less space than ramps.

I have a friend who owns a condo on the 4th story in a walkup building. When her in-laws visit it takes them forever to get up there and then they just stay inside all day because of the stairs lol.

Well Randolph St. did look like that up until about 40-50 years ago, granted most of the signs were theater marquees and hotel blade signs:

^This is what I was talking about. Makes the area look alot more lively and it increases foot traffic. And I'm sure all that extra lighting will prevent crime.

The city picked the Related Midwest proposal for the 21 acre site at Roosevelt and Kostner. It wasn’t my favorite, but I guess more realistic than the one I liked. I was hoping for the McCafferey proposal that incorporated housing and seemed better integrated into the urban fabric.

that massive parking lot is disgusting. i know we're not gonna get architectural masterpieces from government subsidized projects, but c'mon now...

And I wanted to get some feedback, whats the feedback on the Big Deahl? You like it? Meh? That whole clybourn/elston area around the Chicago river needs to get bulldozed, straight up urban planning disaster. This looks like it'll help stitch the area up tho.

^ Yes this is what should be programmed for State street in the loop... Block 37 was supposed to be the centerpiece for this type of bright lights vibe which as you can see never developed the way it was intended.... Heck even the jumpotron feature there couldn't even get that to work..lol..smh
