^ Thanks for all the updates, Solarwind. The podium turned out much, much nicer than I had initially expected. Also, I'm kind of stoked about that mural on the side. Anybody know who did that? A nice splash of color, I'd like to see more of these on the banal sides of podia in the city

I think they are turning out well, though they are a bit monolithic-looking. My preference would be that they leave the slab edges unpainted as it would help articulate the volumes, but they will look slick as big black volumes.

They look good, even if out of place. I'd love to see that area with a handful more midrises between 6 and 10 stories.

This is going to be sick. I'm glad the streaks didn't get VE'd down. Can't wait for glass.

They don't look so out of place with the 6 story monolith down the street. And there's more where that came from with a lot to follow up and down the entire corridor. Milwaukee Ave is becoming a significant continuous midrise neighborhood. Congress theater went from the largest building for miles, to on the smaller side of things in the matter of a year.

Saw MiCa from inside Logan Bar and grill..through the skylight. Pretty cool vantage point while having a beer.

Yeah, I like seeing Viceroy with the 1970s highrises in the background. Harry Weese was looking for a way to break up the box and hit upon big bay windows. 227 E Walton and 55 W Chestnut are really elegant buildings that've held up over time.

Viceroy is like the 2010s version of that bay window trend. Other buildings like 545 McClurg and 130 N Franklin have similar articulation of form. I love the texture and depth it adds to the skyline compared to the usual Pappageorge and SCB econoboxes, which are boring AF be they precast or glass.

Viceroy has popped up decently fast. It's on floor 6 of 18 total now - meaning it should be halfway through with its height in a little bit. I'll be interested too to see how the facadectomy works out.

Yea, Booth Hansen kind of recycled 30 W Oak. I'm not really unhappy with it though since it adds some nice variety to that stretch of Sheridan.
