My understanding is that slenderness is measured by height over the narrower length (i.e. width) of the base. So a building can be long and slender. This is the measure that 111 57th uses to claim the “most slender” title with a ratio of 24:1. If they used the length of the building instead, the ratio would be closer to 18:1.

In that image, it almost looks like the Marquee, but stretched. And I don't think anyone here has any accolades for that building's design.

Probably, but from a visual perspective, the N-S side of the building is more prominent and, IMO, creates the illusion of a much wider building.

I don't hate 30 park place, I like it more than One Bennett - which unfortunately I find to be the worst of the 4 RAMSA buildings I listed.

I would accept One Bennett Park if they threw in gargoyles as a consolation prize for all those other corners they’ve cut

Haha that would be great.

Honestly, I've never understood all the hate for this building. Was one of my favorites of this cycle when it first started and that hasn't changed. Personally would love to have a place here looking at the floorplans.

The hatred seems to be more of an ideological or fanatical fervor than anything rational.

May I ask what exactly is wrong with 30 Park Place? It's one of my favorite recent constructions in New York.

Yep - because there's nothing more objective than the arts and architecture.

That's another discussion people here are probably incapable of having.

Great interiors too.

30 park place looks much worse in my worthless opinion. My main gripe is the random changing of the window frames/ sizes. That is what ruins it for me. Complete lack of harmony...makes it feel to disjointed for me.

Solar's second picture shows exactly why you layperson and typical millionaire will want to buy in this building. I'm not gonna act like it's a beaut, but it has its good angles and that's all it takes

For those who have been lamenting the VE of this project, you should be happy to see in the pictures above that there are bronze colored metal frames and spandrels being installed up the lower half of the east side of the building right now. Looks like 5 are up and a sixth at the 3rd/4th floors is currently being installed.
