Agreed, the previous design was eye catching and unique. This one is just standard cookie cutter blandness. Im happy with the amount of units but this one looks like it barely clears 80 Dekalb next door.

It isn't aesthetically HORRIBLE, it's perfectly nice and adequate. But not bold and striking, much more conservative and corporate. But hey, a LOT of units. They get an A+ for density, a C at best for execution.

It reminds me a little of the smaller Oceanwide towers in LA (which are unfinished)

It's not necessarily bad but since it's replacing a near supertall it's beyond lame

I don't live far from this and I'm fine with the change. The site is really the very edge of downtown, there's a street of brownstones just a block away and frankly the housing shortage is real and effecting real people, so a design which incorporates more apartments is welcome. I also appreciate all the balconies, we don't get many units with outdoor space here and it's a nice addition. I'm a big fan of 9 Dekalb and the modernization/growth of downtown Brooklyn, but I don't want it to look like Midtown Manhattan, I moved out here because it isn't Manhattan and I think it's appropriate to scale down at the edge of downtown like they have here.

It's height reductions on Flatbush which piss me off, not this.

*I just noticed that the cantilevers on the neighboring 80 Dekalb, which were necessary before the rest of the block was torn down, look completely unaddressed and unincorporated in the 625 design - it's going to look haphazard if they build it out that way! Maybe they should incorporate a giant climbing wall, I hope they don't just leave it blank or it will suck to face that from the new building. We need to look at a detailed property line map, this is weird as hell.

If they were going to reduce the height I would have preferred something like SOM’s dual tower 250 water street design. That one also had balconies but IMO a much better facade treatment.

Can see some equipment on site. Looks like excavation.

This project has changed to one significantly less in height. Permits were filed for a 35-story building with 1,098 apartments and lower level retail.

Who can update the thread title?

We have just begun a new large scale mobile crane project at 625 Fulton Street, a soon to be mixed-use high rise building in Downtown Brooklyn. The 35-story building will house 1,098 apartments and lower level retail and is being developed by Ravsky Group.

We love being a part of Brooklyn’s ever changing skyline!

This would have looked better as simply two towers.

This was to be the site of a 900 footer, a companion to BK tower on the skyline. Sadly, it now is not. The Brooklyn Tower still stands proud.

Ugh. I keep clicking this thread forgetting they downsized. So disappointing. I wish they would have at least kept some of the design elements instead of downscaling that too.

Unpopular opinion but I actually like the building as redesigned... there's something captivating about the negative space between the two main masses on either side that gives it an almost Marriott Marquis feel.

looking at all the towers going up around this site, it really deserved to be 900ft.

Why is Brooklyn Tech wrapped in netting? Exterior renovations?
