Yeah, though I believe at some point they got Crown and Pritzker money involved, which is when they really started making noise.

Sterling Bay has worked wonders for this city.

Given what returns in the markets and even private equity are now they could easily be floating on a veritable ocean of money since they have a proven track record.

I have to admit, I'm really coming around to Sam's theory about the West Loop being a terrible place for fortune 500 companies. The 200 room Hyatt and 1,000,000 sf of office will really ensure the west loop will never become an extension of the loop/CBD.

This stuff and the 606 extension should get mentioned in the Gen Dev thread.

Incidentally the Department of Fleet and Facility Management site is south of Finkl, not west as Crain's wrote. That is indeed 18 acres in a great location.

What would be even better to relocate would be the Waste Management garbage transfer facility on Goose Island immediately opposite Whole Foods. It can reek beyond the island depending on the weather.

There's almost nothing left to build on east of Columbus and only a couple empty lots east of michigan.

They're talking about Cabrini Green, which has a lot of vacant or surface parking lots.

Yes, looking at that image makes me really see how much the square mile of Chicago/Halsted/North/Wells still has an obscene amount of underdeveloped and straight-up empty land.

Although it's pretty amazing how quickly developments sprouted up on the periphery of Cabrini.
