My god why can't they include a basic list of state populations. In the press conference, they're referring reporters to the public information office to dig those up. There should be an online list by now.

It should actually be "Habemus censum." Accusative case.

Sorry, I took Latin in high school. I know, I'm a dork!

They’re referring to state, I believe. I don’t think city-level population data has been released yet.

Illinois only lost 18k people. It’s not great the state lost population but that’s way better than the 200k loss that was estimated. No big surprises on seat changes but the population numbers are interesting.

Speaking of Indiana, they had some impressive growth (~300k). I’m excited to see city-level data.

true - but i get the sense that indiana is just leeching from the midwest - and specifically adjacent states.

LOOK AT THIS!!

New York was just 89 people short from keeping its 27th Congressional District!

https://www2.census.gov/programs-sur...020-tableB.pdf

Am I reading this correctly?

A huge amount of power shifted for the next decade and goes to show the importance of having everyone be counted in the decennial Census.

With New York being 89 people short of no change, looks like a stark case of horrific timing. Consider what the Covid pandemic looked like last April....

Yeah, but New York was expected to lose 2 districts, and 3 was considered a worst-case scenario. So only losing 1 district is considered a win.

True, the estimates were way off. Normally it's the estimates that are high with the official count coming in lower.
