Uber from ground level. it's so strange to feel a presence in this space as you are walking around, after years with nothing

from higher-up

three corners

tough lighting, but the hospital portion specifically

Rutter views haven't hanged much

UCSF housing south

north, where a crane is going up. from some angles, this could add to the Crazy Cranes conglomeration

right, that's Uber and three UCSF projects as well (two medical buildings and in the foreground, housing).

there may be one or more additional coming along pretty soon from this angle as well, as UCSF has another couple buildings in the works and Dogpatch is going nuts, but not sure if these other projects are big enough for a tower crane, we'll see

most from this last weekend...

Crazy Cranes from another angle

west end of Nelson Rising Ln literally becoming more concrete in form, seen from its future intersection with Owens

technically Dogpatch, but since it's UCSF, southern housing parcel with yes, another crane base, so I guess that partially answers the question about whether the cluster is going to grow

northern parcel

at the southern end of block 33/34, they've removed the trees and wall that used to border the sidewalk (along Mariposa, just east of Third)

work definitely happening around park parcel P24, hopefully prep for sidewalks and opening soon

hello evolving skyline from future Bayfront park across from Chase Center

Uber

looking north down Third St

dusky Three Corners

the UCSF hospital corner specifically

they've dug a large square hole just out of the pic to the left, but seems they are still in initial stages on UCSF's block 23

they are *still* working on the dog run between Azure and Arden

and the affordable housing on block 3E appears to be slowly getting underway

closer-up. the UCSF housing parcel that just erected its crane

and its sister

Three Corners

Uber and Third St

still not full-on activity at UCSF parcel 23 along 4th St, but here's the hole they're digging:

in context

block 3E on 3rd St still just getting going

Channel with block 1 on the right. people have moved into the low-rise portion

corner of 4th and Channel

same intersection, looking south up 4th

am really disappointed particularly with the eastern end (left, in pic) of block 1. (and they still haven't done any work along the creek bank. starting to wonder about this)

the Third St Bridge is down - uh, up - for maintenance for a few weeks

Alexandria planning an 11-story, 175,000 SF building for 1450 Owens, their last developable site in Mission Bay. Space for biotech labs/incubator plus Alexandria's regional HQ.

https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfranc...owens-are.html

The building for this site was originally proposed years ago as just two stories and ~60,000 SF.

Thanks again, Timbad!

And I agree with you, Block 1 is a huge disappointment. Just awful...such a prominent location as well. Hopefully, they plant some large trees and a lot of greenery on the north side to obstruct and soften its presence.

Only if you appreciate an updated style of Soviet block architecture. Large parts of Mission Bay are bad enough, but this really degrades it.

While it has been exciting living in this neighborhood and seeing it grow from very little to what it is now over the last ten years, I agree that the architecture does leave a lot to be desired. It is housing and that is good given the crazy rents in SF right now. If anything, I think that this area really loses out by having been built at roughly the same time. Many other parts of the city have a very nice variety that comes from the buildings being built across a wide range of times. You can go just a couple blocks north into the rest of SoMa to see how much nicer it is aesthetically. Still, I honestly don't mind living here.

I think the bigger difference is parcel size. 25 foot wide lots are great for walkability, superblocks not so much.
