It probably will though I won't say on the wrong side. I don't know. There seems to be things happening over there very slowly.

The Nobu Hotel planned for the West Loop at Randolph & Peoria is moving forward and will be 13 stories. The drawings are being worked up now. This should really dominate that stretch of Randolph plus take care of an unsightly empty lot

Does anyone know what is going in at 1143ish w grand ave? I believe that is the address (if you google it, it is the one with glass frontage to the left of Bia for Mia) There is a lot of construction going on inside every time I drive by.

So perhaps "moving along" would've been a better term to use. My buddy is a structural engineer and his company was just commissioned to work on this. He was putting in a ton of OT this week bc of it. He said something along the lines of 'we're working on a 13 story hotel (1 additional story than originally discussed) in the West Loop that went quiet for a bit but now it's definitely on'. I dunno that's all I got. We're going kayaking later today so I'll try to get more info as well as some pics of RP, 111, etc.

Wow, despite WLCO's bitching, at least a few denser buildings are managing to "leak" a bit west into their territory. Good news

Yeah. It's 5 stories of senior housing totaling 72 units. Owner is the Hispanic Housing Development.

Thanks for the favor. IMO that's not a really good place to put seniors, it's really noisy and I really was expecting retail with residential.

^ Wow, for a senior housing development that's not bad. Not only does it reestablish an urban corner, but the fact that it is rounded is rather unusual these days. A pleasant surprise.

The site is oddly shaped because Pulaski jogs eastward at North. There might also be sight triangle restrictions since North is a state route, so they'd have to step back from the corner in any case.

But I agree, should be a nice unusual addition. The height is nice with the 6-story bank across the street.

Mr Downtown or someone might be able to explain, but why does virtually every north-south artery between Western and Harlem, and many smaller streets also, jog to the right at North Ave? Was the 1871 fire accompanied by a strike-slip fault that tore the north side 10 yards to the east or something? Could this finally prove that O'Leary's cow was really innocent?

The townships north and south of North Avenue were surveyed at different times, and the surveyors were instructed to make all the mile-square sections the same acreage wherever possible. Remember, they were surveying farmland way out on the prairie so it could be sold, not laying out a future city. The idea of putting roads on those section lines was still 30 years in the future, and the idea of driving faster than 8 mph was still 70 years in the future.
