wouldn't mind that building and it's neighbors to get knocked down and redeveloped, hopefully into something tall and architecturally interesting to counterbalance the sheer glass wall that 300 N Michigan will become.

This says that they're taking a notch out of the crown and eliminating the balconies on the western facade.

I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but the west side will be super visible from the river. Balconies typically look like shit, but there's really nothing else going on with the upper facade of this thing.

^You're right about there being not much aesthetic on the West facade now, but I do like the new symmetrical crown. It's all up to the glass now!

VE strikes again! Now, the building will look shorter and have an ugly block on top as in 55 east Erie.

Got hopeful by the header that they were gonna add a crown or some embellishment up top

The top of this building is so much more important from an aesthetic point of view then the base. Although I do love the V columns, moving south across Michigan avenue bridge (arguably one of the most famous views of Chicago), the building is going to pretty much going to pop out as a banal blue box that obscures the carbide building. I wish they had made this building a little thinner/taller with some type of design on the top. Overall the quality is good but the visual impact nearly depletes from the city since it is removing the visual impact of such an iconic building (carbide) from such a unique location. It kind of feels like they are taking away part of old school Chicago (by obscuring it) that makes this city so great.

Attractive architect

Its very nice to see. Design of building is very attractive as it is in boxy shape and covered with glasses. But parking space is some what disappointing.

Clamps for the climbing gallery/screen - these appear to be anchored on the surface of the floor not the edge of the slab.
The holes are where the nuts on the end of the post-tension cables are recessed into the slab.

A permit was issued on 3/23 for: "CONVERSION OF EXISTING OFFICE SPACE INTO RESIDENTIAL DWELLING UNIT AS PER PLANS (EXISTING OCCUPANCY S-1 PROPOSED OCCUPANCY R-3, TYPE IIIA CONSTRUCTION)(conditional permit subject to field inspections)"

(please move to general if necessary)

The 332 building was severely damaged during the unrest in June. There was some pretty wild footage of it on fire. I walked through it afterwards. Kind of incredible. I think they are restoring it to what it was - though updated, which if I remember right, was two levels of retail (including a lower level), an office for the store above and then a small apartment.

I’ve always wondered why they didn’t do that. I guess they didn’t want to break up the Michigan Avenue elevation with a weird angled section ( as much as I’d like the view of Carbide & Carbon preserved, I feel like that would look kind of awkward). We should at least be thankful that they didn’t plunk it right on the corner and obscure the view of C&C from the bridge completely. If I’m picturing it right in my head, you should still be able to get a glimpse of it from the Tribune/Pioneer Court side. I’m not in Chicago, so maybe one of you guys can tell me for sure.
