Hope the business at Lag. and Cam Fontaine Blvd. now fails so that a set of traffic lights become redundant!

I would really love for it to sink and then that whole area be turned to multi family residential. That way we can actually generate tax revenue from that huge lot, rather than subsidize a rich business that pays no taxes.

Also to add to your point rrskylar, Cam Fontaine/Paterson could realistically be turned into a RIRO on both sides and turning traffic could be routed to the new lights at Cottonwood.

Amen!

The cult leader there had a good thing going for a long time, revenue was good and he was able to live a life of luxury!

A few items of note in the upcoming meeting: November 29, 2022 Standing Policy Committee on Public Works Regular Meeting Agenda
https://clkapps.winnipeg.ca/DMIS/Vie...onId=&InitUrl=

There are others that will take more time to read through.

Sidewalk and AT money is being used to fund road projects, when the sidewalks, etc are not constructed.
http://clkapps.winnipeg.ca/DMIS/perm...9(RM)PW-39.pdf

Twinning of Peguis at Concordia under consideration for next year.
http://clkapps.winnipeg.ca/DMIS/perm...9(RM)PW-52.pdf

Residents want Henderson Hwy reduced to 50 km/h from Disraeli to Harbison.

Peguis at Concordia a real bottleneck heading north on Peguis and that's not even with a train going through, traffic routinely backed up past Devonshire! Who ever thought having a four lane roadway funneled down to two at a railway crossing made any sense?

The City is very hesitant to build things too early, as we know. So you end up with these situations. In reality, the City (or developer or whomever) should have built the Peguis/Concordia intersection to 4 lanes when they did the rail crossing upgrades a few years back. Maybe 5 years ago, I'm not sure since time flies.

It also comes down to these developer built things. On reenders for example. Shindico built the additional 2 lanes in front of the Kildonan mile property and they still have nothing going on there. I'm not 100% up to speed on when/if the City pays back developers. Generally there are developer pay backs for some of tehse roads. But Shindico put out for that IIRC and have nothing to show for it. That's a case of the opposite happening. Road before the development.

I don't think it took a rocket scientist to figure out the two lane roadways in and around the Harbourview South, Kildonan Meadows and the other areas around there needed upgraded roadways to meet the traffic demands!

It was fine up until the last year or two. I rarely have delays there except at rush hour. The traffic signals help. Anyways, I think we'd agree it should already be upgraded. I bet the City waits until the Concordia interchange study is completed.

The intersection at Peguis/Reenders is worse IMO. The way Reenders is set-up has left turns and Costco access in the same lane. The right lane is supposed to be right turn only. But people jump across into costco and have near misses regularly.

I was on TikTok the other day and saw a post showing rail cars on Broadway, the train station was in the background.

Any chance of there being a map of the former streetcar system in Winnipeg?

There was a street car line up the centre of Broadway.

Found this from 1941.

doesnt anyone know how to find what roads are being redone this year? Goulet from Marion to Kenny is almost impassible in some sections. last year was really bad and it's only worse now.

On page 61 at the link.

Des Meurons St - Goulet to Marion /
Goulet WB - Youville to Braemar $6,000,000

This is a rough sketch on how Winnipeg should make the Overpass for the St. Norbert Bypass (Rte 90/ Kenaston Blvd) at the Perimeter. That way there is no Weaving needed unlike in a cloverleaf. And it would be cheaper to build than a 4 level stack

Am I reading that page correctly on pg 61? Are we going to finally see bishop grandin from river to st Anne’s reconstructed!? This stretch is so bad it’s becoming non drivable..

For nine million bucks I wouldn't expect much more than a thin layer of asphalt over top.

Bishop Grandin is a very deficient road... it is perfect for Winnipeg circa 1979 but sadly outdated by today's standards and traffic volumes.

Good concept. Kinda like it better than the proposed ultimate stage design from MTI where there will be two stretches with weaving, albeit one of them in a CD lane and not with general thru traffic.

[Slide 8 has the interchange design]

For whatever reason, I am not seeing your sketch.
