Now can we talk about interchanges there?
May I borrow the Superpave™ trademark at some point for use in my posts?

We shall not sully Brandon Superpave™ with talk of interchanges here, good sir.

Seven months of work to extend the north and south turning lanes on the east bound lane of the Trans Canada at Deacons Corner and no one thought to add a merge lane to enter the TCH heading east!

Thats a fait comment at first glance but since the intersection is controlled by traffic lights the merge lane is basically useless

Fair enough but as far as I can remember right hand turns on red are still allowed.

also the last set of lights until the Kenora by-pass!

Here's what took seven months to partially complete (and had traffic unnecessarily held up during the whole time):

Lol oh I thought you were referring to a left hand merge lane, no the absence of a true right hand merge lane is ridiculous, that I do agree with.

Yeah I drive by there every day and they did hold up traffic a bit. However it really wasn't so bad, they at least had two lanes both ways for almost the whole time. Plus, to be fair, they did dig down all the way and build a whole new road base. What astounded me is once they started pouring concrete how long it took to pour the whole thing. It went on for like 6 weeks... all for like maybe 1.5 km of road to be poured? That is totally ridiculous.

It does seem to take a long time to do a full rebuild around here. Weirdly long. Look at University Crescent, that short stretch of the northbound lanes off Pembina took all summer/fall. I don't think it's more than about 1 km. I assume the traffic disruption will extend into next year as they do the southbound lanes.

Definitely not in the plans, but considering very little traffic actually makes that right turn, it wouldn't have made financial sense to add that. When it's complete it will greatly improve the intersection for traffic making left turns from 207 to #1.

We had about two blocks of Kingsway get repaved with piecemeal curb replacements done this summer. Took the City employees about two months. Never looked like more than one crew working at any time. Seems really inefficient, and traffic is impacted forever.

Is there any plan to extend the twinned segment of PTH 59 south? I went up and down that road a few times recently and traffic seems fairly high even once you get onto the 2-lane segment.

https://www.gov.mb.ca/mit/myhis/pdf/...t_strategy.pdf

It's mentioned in section 4 of this plan. 59 Twinned to PTH 52, and then 52 twinned to Steinbach.

Thank you...looks like there are a few modest but necessary twinning projects on the radar:

3. Surface Reconstruction (Twinning): PTH 1, 5km west of PR 301 to Ontario Border
4. Surface Reconstruction (Twinning): PTH 3, 1.6km east of PTH 100 (Wyper Road) to 6.7km east of PTH 100
5. Surface Reconstruction (Twinning): PTH 15, PTH 101 to 1.2km east of PR 206
6. Surface Reconstruction (Twinning): PTH 52, PTH 59 to Mitchell (Reichenbach Road)
7. Surface Reconstruction (Twinning): PTH 59, PTH 52 to PR 210

Wyper Rd. is probably the lamest of road names.

I assume it's probably named after someone who owned land around there long ago?

We'll see how much of that work actually gets done in a reasonable timeframe.

twinning from 210 (Ile des chenes) to 311 (Niverville) would really make things safer, it's a very busy stretch of 59 south at all times of the day. I drive it at least 2x week and Niverville is growing every day
