LOL! "swaying and creaking and twisting was too much for me" - this from a man who flies a HELICOPTER, a contraption that, to be clear, only stays in the in the air only because of witchcraft!

Also - super excited to see what amazing pictures you post next!

Crazy, right? The two experiences are completely different - to me atlas. In the helicopter, I know (more or less) where I'm going and how we'll be moving, so that sensation isn't much of an issue. Also, somehow flying above the city gives you this surreal feeling of being disconnected from it. I don't 'feel' the height as much

I don't know that I'm experiencing Vertigo in a clinical sense, but the swaying of the tower crane feels quite unnatural. I think I'd need to go back up and just sit on one of the platforms for good hour or so to get used to the motion...see how it moves when the jib moves.

Despite the rationale part of my brain knowing how strong and well balanced the crane is it doesn't look that way, so the irrational part of my brain takes over and tells me I'm standing in a structure made out of massive pieces of uncooked spaghetti. Have you ever snapped a pice of spaghetti???

It's about control, I think. Heights generally don't bother me (though more than they used to), but if I am in a place where I don't think I have total control, I get anxious. For instance, I can stand at the railing of a balcony on the 60th floor of Aqua and be fine, but if I am on a slightly angled roof ten feet off of the ground, I get nervous.

I think that's a pretty good, simple explanation. I had an acute fear of heights not all that long ago, but it subsided as my desire to 'get the shot' has grown. So throw that in to the somewhat randomly swaying crane, and things get hairy. Anyway, here's hoping I get another shot at making it to the cab, though I don't know that it'll get any easier as the crane gets higher. Perhaps they'll add another anchor point in the near future and the saying won't be as bad.

Anyway, here's a big update for you from my monthly update for Walsh. The goal of this trip was to get some glass installation action, but I was there a little too early. To kill some time, we went into the core formwork and climbed the tower crane.

Inside the core formwork:

I made it as high as the core:

Really digging the color of WPE's glass. I think it's going to be a stunner with the white mullions & fins:

I may be biased but this might turn out to be the best highrise out of this building boom (Vista excluded).

The white details are really quite nice, the way help distinguish the volumes crisply is great. Its the kind of detailing 150 riverside didn't really get right.
