When I used to make them in the pre-computer era, we hand drafted the facades on colored or textured paper that best matched the material, or just went monochrome for massing models with limited detail.

You could probably get them done way faster that way! My attention to detail is usually a good thing but it is really bogging me down with this project.

New Block finished and I figured out what I want to do with the bases, so now these are fully complete. The Hanover tower is going to look very nice when its finished in real life.

Alright for future blocks, I've got some choices. I do want to do adjacent blocks, but I know some of them are probably going to get developed fairly soon. I've marked those off in red, but correct me if I am wrong on those.

Somebody said to do the Ashton block next (1) so unless there are votes on any others, that's probably the one I will start next.

Good job! I see the greatest value in modeling blocks that are still to be developed, once the proposals are solidified. Your #5 might not quite be ready yet but could be soon.

Great point. That would probably make this project the only 3D model of Austin out there showing what the skyline will also look like 5 years from now with current and under development buildings.

Exactly my thoughts! Anything that is U/C I can definitely model, but if it's just a proposal I will hold off on creating a full model. General massing for proposals would be fun to include in the future when I have more of a skyline to compare it to.

Do you have any experience with computer modeling? You could easily monetize this and sell your models as assets for Cities:Skylines. Even better, you could recreate Austin’s downtown in-game.

That atrium is one of the best examples anywhere of 80s office architecture blending in to the neighboring historic lowrise character.

If the office-to-res conversion trend ever comes to Austin, this building (and the two others like it at Congress/CChavez) would be excellent as residential.

Thank you for this new thread and your amazing models. Would it ruin the effect if you put something next to the models so we can get an idea of the scale, like maybe an orange or golfball or stapler?
Btw. I see this as news worthy down the road, and I can see Towers doing a story on these.

I don't have much experience in 3D modeling with programs. For the 3D part of these, I really just have enough experience to work that part out all in my head and translate that to paper. If it was easy to export the files I have into graphics, I might do that.
