WOW! I thought that had fallen through. I'm kinda surprised Reilly is allowing it, considering how terrible the two existing hotels on that block muck of the traffic on Huron. Over the weekend I was waiting for a Lyft coming through that block and, no exaggeration, it took them *eight* light changes to travel that one block because the valets were being so incompetent about clearing the street.

I mean, I'll be glad to be down one more surface lot in the area, but I can't help but imagine it'll make traffic on the block/intersection even worse. (and I don't even own a car, so I'm not normally a traffic complainer)

EDIT: Full sketches and elevations here. Hotel entrance will, indeed, be on Huron, adding to the cluster-****ery.

Those streets BELONG to the Valet services - as do the alleys, and lower Carol st.

Seriously if you really want to deal with traffic -- in a time long long ago, in a city called Chicago, Valets were not allowed to park on public streets, they were required to have off street parking for all cars. That was a good law.

Have your alderthing get a few of those "not police" parking enforcers to start handing out tickets. They are non-union and pretty cheap.

That's not true at all. They were always allowed to park on any main thoroughfare designated as a snow route, and had no requirement for any off street parking until Natarus insisted on 10% in 97. Reilly boosted it to 15% in 2015.
As far as I can tell there is no requirement to actually use that percentage or, for that matter, that the leased off street spaces be any where near the licensed location.

Well possibly that would be a place to start.
