First one is definitely the best there. The second one is mid. Looks nice but nothing spectacular. Third one looks like it came out of the 1980s.

I like the unique facade treatment but wish the building was taller to do it more favors, maybe with a flared form similar to 1000M or the proposed Parcel I here in Chi

I always appreciate your sense of humor, Buckeye. The exterior of CAC is hard to love but interior I'm sure it's great.
Queen City Square tiara makes sense, even if folks see it as tacky since like Charlotte it's a "Queen City"
The logo at top is pretty bad though

What's crazy is that they sold about 1/3 of the units right before the housing crash, so it avoided being left unfinished like a lot of condo towers from that era, but most of the building remained empty until after 2015.
Yeah that building is bizarre, but kinda interesting for a condo.
I heard a rumor that George Clooney was thinking about buying or bought a unit in that building to be close to family in KY?

ha, i missed the joke as well and was about to be like "you posted the Hepburn and the Amaris."

i think 100 is the most flashy/eye catching, but i think Roberts Tower is elegant (and i like the skinny profile, which isn't obvious in that image), and i think the Park East's minimalist neo-art-deco style is interesting (with the exception of the parking podium). it also looks a little different from every angle.

yeah, taller would've been great but the st. louis market won't support that at the moment. i actually really like the cross section. i'm not seeing the diagrams online anymore, but it's kind-of shaped like a leaf—narrower near the stem and flaring out as you move in the direction of the barbs or the teeth or the serrations or whatever you want to call them.

I'm from the Bay, and this is my pick as well. The de Young Museum is up there, though.

I like Salesforce Tower but I like it more from a distance for its silhouette and skyline presence than I do up close.

Yeah, for me, the overall rise of the South loop skyline has been infinitely more fun than watching any single given building go up. The south end of grant park had been screaming out for some skyline attention for decades, to help balance out all of the heavy skyline bulk towards the northern end of the park. It took a little while, but that time has finally come!

Hell, the South loop skyline is so relatively new that there are probably plenty of people IN Chicago who wouldn't recognize it either (not nerds like us obviously, but regular people).

Haha fair point! I bet you're right... most people in general aren't doing a whole lot of looking up in their day to day lives... and no, that isn't a veiled religious statement.

^ yeah, the sea smoke combined with 1000M lit up like a torch is quite a dramatic sight.

And 90% of it wasn't there when I first joined this forum at the close of the 20th century.

Thanks for posting that shot, toasty!

I do like NEMA and 100M and St. Regis, but I really like how striking the Legacy looks, even if it's not as interesting as some of the other buildings...

^ yeah, the legacy has a very nice and simple understated sleekness to it.

It's one of my favorite SCB towers ever, as their usual MO is to busy up the facades of their buildings with all kinds of banding and other decorative flourishes.

Legacy at Millennium Park Chicago seems like a better/updated version of the John Hancock Tower in Boston.

I like this tower from certain angles. It reminds me of something you might see built in South America or possibly Southeast Asia.
Chicago meets Bogotá lol
Cheers Chicago, you're looking good!

Really?? It's very nice and looks high quality but doesn't compare to JHT in my books.

Updated? I guess?
Better? Not in a million years.

It's a perfectly nice building though.

Subjective opinion of course, but I think you guys are vastly overstating the aesthetic appeal of The John Hancock Tower. I mean, it's perfectly fine. But how you could say these two aren't pretty close approximations of each other, I have no idea.
