They're not very comfortable or practical at the heights of buildings like One Bloor. The winds can get very strong and the balconies themselves are unusable around the winter months. I would much rather have floor-to ceiling windows right up to the edge of the suite where I can maximize the square footage I am paying for (and also the unobstructed views). But I totally understand why many people do love them and find uses for them.
I like what Mizrahi is proposing at The One though, with the convertible inset balconies which can be used during the winter time (or closed year round).
