Very impressed with all of these concepts, clearly a great deal of work and thought has gone into all of them!

Would definitely like to try my hand in your next competition if you're okay with another person joining in!

Nothing innovative about the design, just a realistic Hamilton-style proposal - balcony tower on podiums

Nice booty eh?

If you're bored by this site we could always pick another one. A single tower site maybe in Ottawa, Kitchener or Montreal?

^^More like I never found the time to resolve an idea that's been residing in the back of my brain for months. This afternoon I just gave up and drew the unresolved thing that I had in mind, hence it's rather incomplete (looks better without windows lol), but it is what it is. Was leaning towards the heavy steel aesthetic with the anvil-like form below, with the other possible direction being something like the Lloyds Building. The rationale is that the mass is cut away from the lower half to create a transit plaza, but mostly to avoid hemming in the Pigott building or blocking off the opening between the Commerce Place towers. For the heightists it's about 165m

That looks incredible, dleung. I'd be interested in seeing how you refine that.

I am unfortunately going to be bowing out of these competitions for now. I recently got employed full-time and I now have CAD as a regular fixture of my job, so I am taking a break from doing it recreationally.

I did have a design half-done though. It has two separate cores with elevators that would meet at the top in an arch. I was also planning to create a new transit terminal as part of the building podium. My big mental block was trying to find a suitable cladding design for it. Maybe sometime I will finish it.

Oh no I'm done haha.

Did you model the surrounding buildings - are those other proposals?

Haha fair enough!

I did actually. Those are other proposed buildings in Hamilton that I modeled for my Hamilton future skyline model, one of many that I have going.

I was thinking for the next comp we choose 1 ugly building and give it a make over. We should also be given one image we can all present as a main to use for submission.

Since we're kind of in a lockdown, wanna do another one? This time make it simple: one building in downtown Toronto. (There's been so many real proposals these days, it would be nice to head back to T.O. for a tower.)
