as mentioned earlier, Reveille Coffee Co. has opened on the corner of Fourth and Long Bridge streets, to offer a first glimpse of what food-oriented storefronts can do to enliven the streetlife. I haven't been in yet, but seems well-visited and well-appointed

I'll throw this in ... this was from last weekend, just to show context

sure would be nice to get that section of the MB Commons done, now that the parcels on both sides of it will soon all be complete!

When are they going to get those linear parks done? It's such a shame. There are people living there now. Is it the developer holding back?

San Francisco is one of the few cities that have high resolution images that old in Google Earth (The only other one I've seen is Houston, with images dating back to 1944)

thanks for your frequent updates, timbad.

man, wish they'd built it all 12-20 stories, instead of going low rise. a huge waste of potential on rare disused land. whatever you think of vancouver, when you look at what they did in a similar area, you see the immense tragedy of the 1990s development plan the city adopted. their architecture looks the same, theirs is just was denser. you feel it walking around, very alive there.

yes, they mussed a big opportunity here. When I'm in the area it feels like I'm in Downtown SJ. They building should have been 2-3 times taller.

looking north on Fourth from China Basin St. still amazes me to think almost nothing you see in this shot existed in 2007, and most of it still didn't in 2012

something is going on on part of the Commons parcel just west of Fourth, not sure what, but it's probably not the greenspace intended yet, since a temporary playing field still occupies the rest of the lot

The Regents yesterday approved UCSF's request to spend $21 million to begin design on this project. Still planning to start construction in fall 2017 with an opening in spring 2020.

the shelves are getting stocked...

... and just seeing this lit up at night makes the neighborhood feel that much more like it is settling into being a real place
