Looks like we are damn close to opening the temporary site:

No real news, but happy to see things are moving forward.

You can lose less money more slowly than playing the one arm bandit I'm sure you understand this.

But Vegas Casinos are smart they place their best payout slots by bottlenecks into shows or restaurant's. It's a science, and the house does not lose.

It would be great if they could keep this location open once the main casino opens on Chicago and the river. The Medinah Temple is much better located for tourists, and the main casino would better serve city residents/suburbanites. Just a thought. Not sure the license would allow for a two location setup like that however.

It would be great if they ran shuttle buses between the two. They could have a couple lined up at any given time on Ontario outside Medinah, I would think.

It could use more dignified signage. I get it has to market itself to pedestrians and drivers, but that ruby red on the building just isn't working. Even black and gold would be preferable.

Are they planning full demo of the Tribune site or are they planning on building on to any of the existing building? If they are aiming at quarter one 2024 construction when do you suppose demo will start?

The casino website indicates operating hrs of 8am - 4am. Are those the planned hrs for the permanent casino or will it be 24hrs?

I would assume the permanent location would be 24 hours..... But maybe not if there's local safety concerns.

Also, now that the temporary site is up and running, I would assume Bally's would want to start work on the permanent location?

I was not even aware the temp casino even opened. There was not that much fanfare or advertisement of it from what I seen.

Bally’s temporary Chicago casino sees average daily revenue drop in first full month

Excitement about the city’s first casino appeared to wane over its first full month, state figures show, as average daily revenue and admissions fell compared to the first few weeks at the River North gaming venue.

By Mitchell Armentrout Nov 8, 2023, 5:13pm CST

With the betting window closed on the first full month of operation at Bally’s temporary casino, the Medinah Temple site raked in more than $7.6 million in October, a 12% decline in average daily revenue compared to its first few weeks.

The latest monthly cash count announced Wednesday by regulators at the Illinois Gaming Board put the River North betting house near the top of the state’s roster of 15 casinos — but well behind city tax revenue projections for Chicago’s desperately underfunded police and firefighter pensions.

Bally’s adjusted gross revenue — its profit after paying winners — shook out to about $245,446 per day in October, down from an average of roughly $278,268 from its Sept. 9 opening through the end of that month.

Didn't see it mentioned here, but the permanent casino license for Bally's was approved in October. Also looks like they received PD approval in 2022 and site plan approval in May 2023. Assuming they have financing in place, they just need to get their building permits and they are ready to break ground the moment Tribune vacates the Freedom Center.

Nice! Has there been any movement on the site to demo the existing structure?

Last I heard they have an agreement to let publishing continue until the end of the year. Then demo early next year.

It sounds like wishful thinking on Hopkins part, HE doesn't want to be built.
