It's actually quite clever for a hotel. Those angled windows will provide great views of the whole skyline.

Wonder if they'll do discounts for members.

Awesome. Now I just pray the height reduction doesn't jeopardize covering up the party wall to the west.

Isn't the "party wall" supposed to extend above the neighboring building - fire code and all that.

I wonder if this tower is an example of the type of design we should expect from "The 78". (they seriously need a better name)

It's the code name by Related Midwest for their 62 acre development in South Loop. It's a pun on how there are 77 communities in Chicago, and that the new development is going to feel like a 78th community

^^ Disgusting. And when did China get a building that looks like the Sears Tower?

I like this too, I'm just envisioning some interesting photographs with the reflection of the skyline in the east facing glass

I actually don't mind it that much, because the tower itself has good street interaction, and the optimist in me thinks having the standalone garage separate from the tower becomes a redevelopment opportunity in 10-15 years when it turns out rentals 3 blocks from the Loop don't need that much parking capacity...

I'm already looking forward to the day the day the lowrise brick building gets torn down, too. At least the block will be enveloped in by Riverline soon enough...

the aldercritter that allowed that ugly POS to be built should at least demand they cover that thing in ivy or some sort of greenery, its SO BAD! Looks like a 70's parking garage
