Even with no pix, I can tell you that they are in the excavation phase now... probably for many months still...

i'm not talking about ceremonial groundbreakings, or site prep/demo, or excavation, but actual construction on the building's foundation system.

a picture would be worth about 8 trillion words here.

Then no, that will be a few months away. But this is a top down construction so it should meet SSP criteria soon into the new year.

A perimeter caisson wall for the 5 underground levels (AFAIK, subway concourse and 4 u/g parking levels) is underway. The retail podium is confirmed to go ahead. The residential tower proceeding will be dependent on pre-sales. It is being priced at the highest end of the market. It should sell but, it's a lot of units at this price point and without a brand attached. (one could be released soon)

Just a few photos...

Yesterday, this photo shows how tall this guy will become, growing 30 metres taller than the tallest tower in this photo:

A small correction: The One will be about 49 m taller than 1 Bloor E, the tallest tower in General Lee’s photo above, rather than 30 m. taller.

That proposal was scaled back a bit, to 71 floors, 230 metres. http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=57390

They seem to be dragging their feet, gettting started.
Other projects nearby, among others dowtown, are far more
advanced in construction, and having started at the sametime,
or even later. I could be wrong, but i don't see a lot of
progress.
I Imagine it will need a very deep excivation, and i hope
it links with adjacent PATH connected complexes, incl. Hudson Bay, &
Holt's, manulife.
It seems to be a rather small crew, onsite, and given the
magnitude of the project. Early days, yet. But at this pace it suggests this
might take forevcer.

Here's an overhead taken last Monday by BloorMan at UT. Lots of equipment, scant activity.

At this point, I don't think so. Even if something happened that stalled construction (extremely unlikely) to the point where the full tower couldn't go ahead, some form of this plan will go ahead, Mizrazi isn't going to let this project fall apart. (Again, the chances that this won't go full steam ahead up to 306 metres in the air is very minimal, the developer knows the risks and has the finances to go ahead)

Something about a top-down method is being used here, but I don't know the details. Also, the site is tiny, and it's right beside one of the busiest intersections in the country, and there are 2 subway lines underneath it all to consider as well. Logistics must be a nighmare...

Agreed. Walking by there everyday, I'm struck by just how small
that lot, and the footrpint is. So there are probably severe limitations
on how much hevy equipment, dump trucks, and pesonal you can
get onsite, at any given time.

The large commercial project for CIBC down near the Gardner
is a huge lot. I was astonished at how fast and how much progress they've
made there.

I'm sure the subway location must play some part in the slow progress. I seem to recall One Bloor East taking a long time to dig down before upwards construction began.

I had an interesting conversation with one of the site formen, the other day.
The biggest chalange with the excavation will be water accretion. The reletiely small
nd compact foot print of the site, limits the amount of heavy equipment and
personel that can safely work at one time. The acess to the site, is limited
from Yonge St or Bloor, and is mainly from balmuto. There is also working going on across the street at the manulife, They are currently working with Gigantic augers, digging , and pouring the plyings along the perimter.
The yonge & Bloor subway is apparently not an issue, as it runs on the otherside of yonge, and the nroth side of Bloor. The forman mentioned other projects, with even
higher heights maybe pending.

Unsubstantiated, but interesting tidbit regarding other, taller buildings.
I'm intrigued.
