Also someone mentioned a "Spanish Steps" look in the lobby. Is this true? If so, that would be soooo cool!
Maybe not quite as grand as the Spanish Steps, but as the picture above shows it will be a pretty neat feature in this awesome atrium/lobby space!

Or just go all out--a 53-metre spire to make it the tallest office building in Canada.

I like this height, but would like to see a 300metre tower in the future; mainly to hear people from Toronto get really, really worked up.

Nothing higher than 300metres though. A 400metre tower would make the skyline look way too imbalanced imo.

Not if the top 50m is a pointy crown with a spire.

I believe Toronto already has a 300m proposal as part of the convention centre redevelopment there. Though don't know a realistic timeline for that (or if the proposal is realistic at all).

This building doesn't need to be a 1000 footer. A couple of 900 footers with a little space between them would be real impressive! Maybe this east tower might be a little taller by the time it comes out of the ground!

As long as they don't shorten it like happens to so many (including the Bow).
I can hear the potential tenant asking "can we have larger floorplates please?".

On the positive side - the taller of the two is the first to get built (ala 8th Ave Place).

Nice avatar change Bokimon - made me laugh.

Skyline with HS From a CBC article. I like how HS/225-sixth dwarfs pretty much every building in this pic(a bunch in the 150-215m range) except for The Bow.

I really like it. I have only been in Calgary for 5 years, and am pretty impressed by how the skyline is coming together.

I hope they don't stick with the "225 Sixth" moniker and perhaps pay homage to the former building and call it "Herald Square". Seeing as it will be the new tallest in Calgary, it deserves more than a numbered title!

Does anyone know of an existing building with a similar finish "glass skin"? I'd like to see some photos to get an example of how it will really look

Would the floor area ratio be maxed out with 2.8M sq. ft.?

So where would be the next logical place for a new (potentially taller) skyscraper in the downtown core?

Bay Adelaide is my guess as to what the glazing will look like... given that the glazing never ends up looking like the renders.

There are a handful of parking lots that still need to go, most obvious of which are b/w 9th and 10th Ave, the lot @ 6th ave and 4th St, block north of the Bow, where roadhouse is, potentially a site or two in EV or west of 8th St SW. Eau Claire still has a lot of available land, but you can't shade the river path, and some should be saved for residential/mixed use.

If we see a SELRT, I think it is a good opportunity to throw some real tall towers into the area b/w 2nd St SW - 4th St SE, around 10th - 12th Ave SE. In fact, there is already a lot going on around there, but no supertalls yet. If Calgary gets a new SELRT, Convention Ctr, and HSR, regional rail, Victoria Park/East Beltline/Stampede Park will become a new hub and will definitely deserve some skyscraper love. Currently, the amenities and transportation options are secondary to those downtown.
