Atlanta named best city in US to start a career

Atlanta is the best city in the United States to start a career, new data has revealed - while New York City is the worst.

Orlando, Florida, and Salt Lake City, Utah, were ranked in second and third place, according to the research published by personal finance website WalletHub.

The outlet looked at more than 180 U.S. cities and used 26 key indicators of career-friendliness including the monthly average starting salary and housing affordability.

Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale and scores ranged from 0 to 100.

Atlanta, the overall top city, received a score of 66.87, ranking number two in professional opportunities and number seven in quality of life.

The number one city in professional opportunities, Miami, ranked seventh overall on the list but was only 101st in quality of life.

Just behind Atlanta, Orlando, and Salt Lake City are Columbia, South Carolina and Tampa, Florida.

When I think professional opportunities I think tech, finance, meds, eds, aerospace/defense, etc. How exactly is Miami #1 here?

Kind of agree with the lack of opportunities except for maybe finance, plus cost of housing is high.

I always hear of early career people trying to get away from Florida, or regretting moving there. Even the crypto hype squad seems to be silently abandoning it lately.
