But no, never going to happen.
People do know the NCC View plane on the north side of Rideau is capped at 27 storeys right?

Stupidest rule I've heard. Someone please explain to me how additional height (let's say 35 floors at this site) would somehow ruin the views of Parliament from Laurier and Portage and... why this is somehow important enough to limit growth and density in our core?

We can not even see the parliament from Sparks street.
Bring those Sparks buildings down to 1m!

Gives us a good idea of the crown of the smaller tower

Hmmm nice. Surprised to see a design element, but glad to see something nonetheless. Could be really nice with some lighting at nice too.

I'm really anxious to see what the cladding will be (on all towers), although for the most part there doesn't seem to be too much of it (lots of windows), but curious to see if we'll see panels, bricks, charcoal, beige, red... Just for the love of god PLEASE no random patchwork of colours!

I don't mind a CharcWhite here, because it's the only one in this masse of buildings. I also don't mind the next Zibi bock being a CharcWhite, because their is variety in that massing.

I mostly mind CharcWhite when they come in either large groups with no contrast, or when they are built sticking out like sore thumbs all over the city.

At least it won't be a blank wall, AND it will be hidden by a slightly nicer Rimap tower in 5-10 years.

Interesting! I was not aware of that. Went into Rimap's website and indeed that LCBO already shows up as a "Future Development Site"

Being on the West side of King Edward means the LCBO site is height controlled. I don't know if I'm ready for another 23-28 story building on that lot.

Get ready for it, because that's what we'll end up with. Just hoping for two slim point towers over the massive slabs that Claridge has been building.

Something like this Toronto development would be great to add density and units but without building too bulky and letting sunlight in and the towers breath a little (between themselves and Royale next door)

The only thing that could make this scene uglier would be a 27 story wall of charcoal brick. Oh....wait.....

It's funny how Royale is looking better than the Marriott next door (at least so far).

Yes agree. This will be a huge coup for Claridge. Have they ever looked better than something nextdoor?

That wall is going to be horrific. At least it has windows?

Just noticed "Occupancy Winter 2023" has been changed to "Occupancy Summer 2024" in their website.

That was already expected/mentioned since 2020.
