Correction to the text above: The rendering is for the Joes on Juniper project, not the west peachtree project. Just want to make sure that is clear

Signia by Hilton aims to fill the need for luxury accommodations and convention space for this premier campus. With GWCCA as 4th largest convention center in the world, the hotel tower has been strategically located outside of the footprint of an existing parking deck due to high foundation loads. An expansion of this deck below will increase parking capacity for the new hotel, and an expansion of the Andrew Young Plaza will better connect and integrate the existing GWCC and Andrew Young International Boulevard activity with the stadium and other ancillary activities below. To maximize the site, the building is organized with a hotel tower sitting on top of the podium which houses the lobby, conference, amenity, parking, and back-of-house programs. At 413 feet tall, the building falls just below the 420 foot limit for being categorized as a super-high rise building. Connection to the existing GWCC Buildings B&C, provides easy access for conference attendees while providing excellent views of the surrounding structures and Atlanta skyline.[IMG]https://6j8jn4e1mu93bxjh8cv2khcg-wpe...s_1-scaled.jpg[/small]

The Huge lot just North of the new Hotel tower going up, I WISH some developer would do something with it. Right where Simpson rd starts and the huge lot across from Simpson’s Rd. Very large property. Be nice to see some Tall towers on that land. I can’t remember that cross st name but it’s East of Simpson’s rd at that intersection with Simpson rd. Perfect for a Huge casino if you ask me. Also that Area of land by Atlantic station to the west next to the little strip mall or something there with the Blaze pizza donken donuts, that two needs developed. 17th st next to the ikea place.

Excellent, Nice Design-- though I hate to loose the wonderful residence on that site-- one of the last remnants of the old Peachtree--

Urbanize atlanta article

After years of heated discussions, political campaigns involving tax dollars, and legal wrangling, a titanic downtown Atlanta undertaking that’s being called “one of the largest and most exciting city-center developments in America” is out of the gate.

Centennial Yards, a project by California-based CIM Group expected to span 50 acres and cost upwards of $5 billion, hosted an official kickoff Tuesday with dignitary speeches, milestone commemorations, and the unveiling of new renderings.

Anchored by downtown attractions Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena, Centennial Yards is expected to eventually create more than a dozen city blocks in the Gulch. That's the sunken mishmash of parking lots and railroad property that’s long been a civic canker sore and magnet for grandiose redevelopment ideas that went nowhere.

As new renderings suggest, Centennial Yards is envisioned as an architecturally varied mix of retail, apartments, offices, and hotel rooms. It’ll all be backed by a nearly $2 billion tax-incentive package—the largest in Atlanta history and subject of a lawsuit. (In June, the Georgia Supreme Court voted unanimously in favor of $1.25 billion in bonds that CIM says it needs to build Centennial Yards, clearing the way for the Southeast’s biggest planned development.)

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said the city will “continue to work closely with CIM to ensure that affordable housing, women and minority contracting, and owner participation and numerous other community incentives remain at the core of this project,” according to a prepared statement.

Alongside CIM, a co-investor group includes local movers-and-shakers in tech, real estate, entertainment, retail, and venture capital sectors—along with Atlanta Hawks principal owner and chairman Tony Ressler. (That explains the Centennial Yards promo blasted through the arena’s jumbo screens during halftime of Hawks’ games.)

I worked in that building for 15 years before we relocated. It’ll be missed. If only there was an empty lot directly across the street to building a new residential skyscraper...

The Margaritaville tower doesn't block much of a view. The Metropolitan might be a bigger problem for Skyview, however.

I.E. Centennial Yards - is there an expected start time to any of these towers? It's great to see this development is expected to move forward I just wonder how far out until we actually see any movement.

Think years before we see anything above street level. There's a lot of moving parts to that project and the technical side of the parking decks is quite large. Everything that's been released so far is just concept and not actual proposals of buildings to be built. Heck, they don't even know what they want to build or where to build any of it.
