11ft difference from the roof height of Sears. That's a height some people can jump and touch.

That is true, but if we can get a new tallest building after 46 years, even if it is only by 11ft.

I'm Down

Please don't VE the gold fins...
Please don't VE the gold mullions on the broad sides of the building...
Please don't VE the gold backing to the spandrel glass between floors...
Please don't change the current ventilation slits with bands of black grates...

The fruition of these details will make or break this building for me, they make the tower much more elegant and unique. If this ends up being entirely blue and silver, i guess ill understand for cost reasons especially after this recession but I'll still cry a lil.

Exciting stuff nonetheless
They are NOT measuring from lower Illinois the diagram clearly shows UPPER Illinois as 0.0

The same creatures that say a decorative spire counts, but a functional antenna doesn't. Height is measured from the main entrance.

I know, but when they state the 1,442 figure they are.

Why are there two different measurements I guess is what I'm asking as opposed to other buildings which have one, main entrance shouldn't be a deciding factor IMO since it's quite possible the other side extends further to the ground.

In any case it seems they're staying below the Sears on purpose, which is unfortunate IMO, that building is awesome but not sacred.

Yea, hopefully we got our bad luck out of the way.

Related isn't behind this either, Golub & Co are, so I guess that's a little better?

Golub has a lot of large properties, but this is definitely a bigger development project for them, however, they also have CIM Group on their team who has been involved in projects such as The Independent (Austin) and 432 Park Ave.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Sears Tower's actual roof height is also 1442' but they include the small equipment shed now so its officially 1450' -which means that diagram for Tribune Tower can be adjusted up to meet the real roofline of Sears.

Right, that shed may be a bit higher than 8 feet though, the main roof of Sears is like 1435-1440 range. Without the parapet/fins Tribune would likely be mid-high 1300s to the parapet.

https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/dept...n-hearing.html

NOTE: The April 23, 2020 "virtual" meeting of the Chicago Plan Commission will include the proposed applications and/or amendments that were postponed from previously scheduled hearings on March 19, 2020 and April 16, 2020

Applicant is proposing to rezone the subject property from DX-12 (Downtown Mixed-Use) and DX-16 (Downtown Mixed-Use) to a unified DX-12 (Downtown Mixed-Use) and then to a Residential Business Planned Development. The applicant is renovating the existing building on the western portion of the site and intends to develop the eastern portion of the site with a mixed-use building 1,442 ft. in height, containing 564 dwelling units as well as 200 hotel rooms. The overall planned development will contain 726 dwelling units, 687 accessory vehicular parking stalls and 14 loading berths.

https://www.chicago.gov/content/dam/...pplication.pdf

I'm guessing the height listed is the maximum allowable.

So the height is officially at 1,442 ft , not even 7ft added ?
