Here we go:

The York and augers on the 'Cultural Building' site

Looking east down the now closed 6th avenue

Looking across the site from the NE corner of the pit

Work on the eastern side of the block (likely just utilies, the parkade ends at the far side of the building across the street)

It's become quite difficult to get right up to the site to shoot down into the pit as they've closed the sidewalks and crosswalks on the north and west sides of the blocks, fortunately you can still get to the fence by the site office that Ledcor has in the building thats on the NE corner of the north block.

I'm a bit surprised that nobody bothered to post this in this thread. C'mon guys, we can't only update the Calgary Construction Thread.

Credit for these pictures goes to photographers from the Calgary Herald feature:
http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/...BOWRISING.html

Calgary Herald, August 30, 2007

Week 1: This photo of the construction site was taken from the roof of the adjacent Hanover building the day 6th Avenue S.E. closed for 10 months.
Herald photo, Ted Rhodes

Week 2: One week later from the same site, there are early signs of activity around the construction site. The York Hotel, lower right, is coming apart and will later be reassembled.
Herald photo, Dean Bicknell

One of two photos sent in by Herald reader Harry Schwartz, showing a crane being lifted to the top of the old York Hotel.

A great render by ctrlaltdel showing the future development in the core and how each will contribute to the cityscape. Shows a very accurate view of how Bow will impact the skyline.

That rendering is so realistic. The Bow dominates but doesn't look overwhelming. Absolutely love it. What a skyline it will be!

The demolition of the York is proceeding smoothly it seems, while the Regis remains untouched as of yet. The main hole is getting deeper, but at a somewhat slower pace (since they will need to get rid of both the aforementioned structures to build the parkade out).

September 17th, 2007:

They are hauling dirt out as fast as they can, at any given time while I was taking photo's today there were a minimum of 6-8 trucks (with pup trailers) in the pit, averaging about two minutes to fill and go. Only one excavator in the pit itself, but its dropping quickly.

Very nice, I like. And the Bow doesn't look too fat in that picture either.

^ScottFromCalgary, I love your signature (Wall Street...woot), but why did you leave out the most influential and best part of the greed speech in "Greed, for lack of a better word, is good," at the very beginning.

Thanks for the pictures, btw.

I think I copied and pasted from imdb.com, but I'll change it.
