So there'd be one well defined intersection, instead of the weird triple intersection with a subway entrance on an island in the middle that we have now. And all of the space wasted on the section of Ogden that dead ends at the river can be reclaimed and developed, with the narrower and grid aligned Carpenter connecting to the existing underpass to the north.
It'd be a shame to lose the little retail building with Subway and D'Augustino's, but fixing that intersection would be worth it (and maybe the building could be moved or it's facade salvaged)...

I don't think you have to be that drastic. My dream is to tear down the Concentra clinic building for a large plaza to open up views from the intersection to St. John Cantius and provide a town square for the area.
You don't need to eliminate parking to improve the intersection - just put the whole area on a road diet and expand the sidewalks out with some street trees and furniture and raised bike lanes like at Roosevelt/Wabash. CDOT has already done a partial road diet in the area, but only with paint. They still need to move the curb lines. Drop a little kiosk cafe into the center island to activate the space, and replace the subway entrances with something distinctive.
