Every time I log on it's a new surprise! Look absolutely great! Have you been using the same camera for all of these? The sharpness is fantastic.

You can get any camera pretty much to look that sharp, just use a tripod like I always do, even when theres plenty of light. But of course, its also the lenses that make images sharper. The lens I use the most is my Tokina 12-24mm lens. I also use my Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lens in a lot of my shots. My camera is a Nikon D200 that I bought back in 2005. I also use a Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens, a Nikon 18-70mm f3.5 that came with my D70 camera body back in 2003. For my wildlife stuff I usually use my Tamron 200-500mm.

Damn dude, you've got some great lenses! 10.5 mm fisheye? Holy crap!

Anyhow, I'm going to be in Hot Springs this weekend. Let me know if you might want to take a little trip out there and meet up for some photos!

Some great work here, Chris. You have a lot of talent.

Although there are better images in the set, I like the one of the church with the roof caved in - is that a tree growing out of the side?

Thanks man and yeah, there were small trees already growing out of the church but they tore it down about a year ago unfortunately but not like it could be restored anyways.

Yeah, there was no saving that building.

That almost looks like something out of Pripyat (the abandoned city near the Chernobyl power plant in Ukraine).

Levee along the Mississippi

Osceola in north eastern Arkansas right along the Mississippi River.

Carlisle about 40 miles east of Little Rock.

Just north of West Memphis

Some small podunk I couldnt find on the map again after going there in north eastern Arkansas.

Luxora, not looking too luxurious these days.

Marshall, in northern Arkansas, north of the Buffalo River.

Marshall

The abandoned theme park, Dogpatch USA, north of Jasper in the Ozark Mtns.

The Buffalo National River north of Jasper.

A bridge over the Buffalo on Hwy 7

The Ozarks near Jasper.

The small town of Jasper, a pretty semi touristy town in the heart of the Ozarks.

These are pure art; I love how you convey all different facets of the state: the people shots, the calm rural shots, the decay, the intimacy of the old main streets. I have a sudden desire to do a road trip through Arkansas. It would make for a great book!

It is a good state to visit and stay for a little bit, just dont live here. But, overall, the state is very beautiful, just nothing to do really.

Some photos I took on my way back from Houston.

This is historic Washington in southern Arkansas. It has tons of houses from the 1840s-60s left within it and even has the old confederate state capitol still there and preserved. It is now a state park and is a pretty cool place to visit if youre a history buff.

The Confederate Capitol building.

Recently restored old county courthouse.

This is Nashville Arkansas, just north of Washington.

These were taken just a couple days ago when we got a big snow storm here in Russellville.

Nice! I couldnt put a finger on it earlier, but your original part of this thread reminds me of the photos I'd see in the old National Geographics I grew up reading. Real good, memorable stuff.

Got some new photos and Im starting to make a book about Arkansas, I have to cover the eastern half of the state this semester though, I barely have any photos from the delta region.

Going south along highway 7 towards Hot Springs in the Ouachita Mountains.

Abandoned art moderne apartments on the outskirts of Hot Springs

Abandoned motel in Hot Springs

Partially abandoned apartments in Hot Springs.

Fayettville, which is home to University of Arkansas.

Dickson Street in Fayettville, one of the states most lively streets.

Abandoned home near London, a small podunk town in central Arkansas.

Mater in Knoxville AR

Looking towards Russellville over Lake Dardanelle.

Dont fuck with this guy.

Pentacostal megachurch in Russellville, where they talk in tongues every church service, theyre pretty nuts.

Lights of Russellville from Mt. Nebo

Paris Arkansas, in the river valley.

Subiaco Abbey and Academy in Subiaco, it was established in the 1870s and sits in the middle of nothingness, its like a little slice of Italy in Arkansas. Its an incredible sight.

Podunk Ola just north of the Ouachita Mountains.

The Ouachita Mountains from Mt. Magazine State Park, the tallest point in the state.

Mt. Magazine.

Havana just south of Mt. Magazine.

Havana, its mostly abandoned and run down.

Some tiny town if it could have been called that east of Havana. This was the only historic building that remained on its Main St.

Dickson St. in Fayettville.

Have you been to Lake Ouachita? It is off Hwy 270 northwest of Hot Springs. There are some beautiful vistas of the lake (which is dotted with islands) with the mountains in the background. Not too far from Russellville either. Another place I would recommend checking out is the Cossatot River in far west Arkansas near the Oklahoma border. They say it is the most intense whitewater stream between the Rockies and Appalachians.

This is an incredible picture of the Ouachita Mtns!
