Bay Area Black Exodus Reversal or was it Exaggerated?

There has been a decade's worth of articles and stories about a mass exodus of Blacks from the Bay Area and California as a whole

So in response to a comment in another forum, I decided to look at Black population growth data for San Francisco and the 20 counties that surround it.

So we know that there has been a large number of Black households leave the region altogether but the greater regional Black population actually grew nonetheless.

1. I basically combined the Bay Area CSA and Sacramento CSA because the data shows clear interregional movement.

2. Northern California has the highest percentage of multiracial persons of any similarly sized corridor in the mainland United States(San Joaquin at 12% multiracial, ranks #1 in the mainland US among major metro counties), so I decided to use the "alone or in combination of one or more other races" stat.

3. There are declines in only 3 counties(Alameda, El Dorado and Marin), although in the case of the East Bay, Alameda lost 4,000 but Contra Costa gained 8,000 so that's a net gain for the region.

4. Santa Clara's Black population grew by 12%, this is the same Santa Clara county with the $1.6 million median home price.

5. Placer County, wealthiest non-coastal county in California and suburb of Sacramento, saw a 44% increase in it's Black population---I am fairly certain most of those are upper income Black households from the Bay Area.

6. Nevada County, in the Sierras, saw their Black population double.

7. Santa Cruz County, on the coast, saw their Black population grow by nearly 60%.

8. San Francisco itself saw modest growth as well.

9. Sacramento County will probably surpass Alameda County soon as the largest county concentration of Blacks in Northern Calfornia.

Those are some of my observations, here is the data

I mean, Sacramento isn't the Bay Area.

It appears the Bay Area slightly gained AA residents, but mostly on the fringe.

The point is the movement between the 2 areas is quite pronounced, AND the fact that overall there was growth despite the perceived mass exodus which I believe occurred to a degree, but not nearly as great as the media portrayed it to be.
