haha, okay...wait, this isn't April Fools? Can't be.

Just a side note: The only thing that doesn't shrink on this project, is the amount of blog pages....It's up to 27, do I hear 30, 30,30?

Edit: 28 now, do I hear 29..? 30? 30?

coming soon, a "temporary" parking lot at 300 S broad. That would be the icing on the cake. They tore down a building (vacant, but not really unsightly) to give us a hole and construction barricades at a prominent center city corner.

Gotta hurry up and demolish the on site historically protected structures so that they can begin their shimmering skyscraper, or at least give it the old college try. See also, SLC Rittenhouse tower.

I dunno, Dranoff actually has a pretty good track record. I'm not worried about this one just yet.

There was always something fishy about this project that made me feel deep in my soul it would not happen. Perhaps the quick startup of the company (sbe) or their sleazy/douchey, throw pasta at the fridge business plan of quick talk and shiny pictures.

I hope you're right too man, but I'm not feeling it. I would think we'd have had some news recently if the timeline wasn't slipping again.

Ive read a few times that there is a shortage of high end condo units in Cc so i'm not understanding how that doesn't bode well for this project. ONe would think they would be trying to get these units on the market ASAP.

At first, the height wasn't very impressive.
Then I saw the location.
South Broad extends the skyline ALA Manhattan style.
East Broad makes it the tallest on the east side.

Overall:
  • Good location
  • Nice appearance
  • Significant height
  • Potential for more in that vicinity
Good start, now let's see it rise!

There aren't that many buildings above 500' in Philly due to the ol' gentlemen's agreement...I think the completed amount is 12, add another 2 under construction. I consider anything above 500' outside (or hell, inside) the main financial district a massive plus.

12 towers over 500 feet currently completed, with 3 under construction (CITC, FMC, W Hotel) and another 12 proposed including everything from the Schuylkill Yards, 30th Street Station District, 1911 Walnut, SLS and 2100 Market. Philly skyline could really drastically change over the next two decades.

Thanks for the clarification...I consider anything over 500 a big win. Can't wait to see things progress.

I still have an overwhelming confidence that Dranoff will go through with the SLS.

Upon looking through the "Coming Soon" section of the website, I noticed that the Hyde Hotel has an estimated completion date of Spring 2019. The SLS's is estimated at "early" Spring 2019. This could mean that those who speculated that Dranoff is waiting for the completion of One Riverside could be correct. According to the projected completion dates, the SLS and Hyde Hotel will have simultaneous activity at some point. I would think that Dranoff would want to wait until the very end of one of his Philly projects before delving into two simultaneous projects a block away from each other on South Broad.

12 proposed...over the next 30 years.

Good point PhilliesPhan, but the SLS is a much larger project than the Hyde hotel. I sure hope you are right!

The SLS just seems scary-quiet right now.

I don't know why people are so pessimistic on this project. Look at the W. How many obstacles did it face? Many. And how long was the delay on completion (or even digging) from its first announced dates? A long time.

Because we're Philadelphians, and because the causes for delay are less clear/tangible than an endless pit of debris. However, it is good to remember that this is Dranoff, not Blatstein. Not as "can do" as Pearl, but hardly an empty suit with a PR department.
