Portland, Maine - Summer 2023

I'm back with more pictures of Maine's largest city.

Let's start out with some skyline shots, taken from South Portland across the bay.

Here are some photos of the Downtown area:

Monument Square

Congress Street

Congress Square

Oak Street

upper Congress Street near Longfellow Square

Cumberland Ave

High Street

Federal Street

Newbury Street & Pearl Street

Elm Street

Spring Street

Temple Street

Exchange Street

Middle Street

Pleasant Street

Forest Ave/U.S. Route 302 is the main thoroughfare between Downtown and the city's northwestern neighborhoods

The intersection of Forest Ave & Park Ave (arguably the northwesternmost boundary of Downtown)

further along Forest Ave, past the Park Ave intersection

Another major route in and out of Downtown from points further north is Baxter Boulevard (not pictured) and the Preble Street Extension

After the intersection with Marginal Way, the Preble Street Extension becomes Preble Street proper.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by!
I will be posting more Portland photos as I take them.

Nice pictures!

Is that the new tallest building I see in the Federal Street pictures?

Yup, that's 201 Federal Street (now called Aucocisco).

Always happy to see a Portland thread around here.

I used to live in the apartment building across from the old Public Market along Preble Street just off Congress Ave and a few paces up from the Time & Temperature Building. I saw it in a few of the photos near the Library and off Monument Square. I always wanted a unit with one of the bay windows, but my studio without one worked well enough.

I still can't believe it's taken so long for anything fairly substantial to show up in the skyline, but the new tower definitely makes a mark.

Still not sure if I'm a fan of the alterations they did to One Monument Square. I always liked the brown brick and the fact that the entry was in the corners of the building rather than something specifically facing the Square.

Love the photos!

Portland is in the top 3 New England cities after Burlington and Providence IMO

Thanks for sharing! I'm quite fond of Portland... has the feeling of a much larger city at street level, in my opinion.
