work along the Creek, slow but steady

they might be in pause on Mission Rock?

Bayfront Park by Chase Center, also hard to tell if activity there

what look like stone benches going in at the mid-block passage at 950 Tennessee

and some of the final skin is on

the sidewalk in front of 2177 Third is open

looking north down Third

new coffee spot to open at the Vision Neurosciences building, apparently

its plaza on the NW corner was open, and pleasant enough

quite resembles the renderings

pavers on site in front of Uber

at least some of the sidewalk is getting a complete do-over

block 6W

it recently occurred to me that, thank goodness for Mission Rock, because come the end of the year, all the u/c projects in MB will be pretty much wrapped or wrapping up. the only things in the wings I can think of are:

- the Warriors hotel
- the smallish project on half of block 9, which one would think will start in the next few months
- maybe the biotech office building on Owens, but I don't know how really imminent that one is
- CCA's expansion, just outside MB proper
- a new ferry terminal?

maybe there will more stuff to watch at Pier 70 by then too

Concerning Mission Rock:

Quote:
The first phase includes four large buildings, including two 23-story residential towers, and a 5-acre waterfront park. The target date for completion is the final quarter of 2022, meaning it should be ready — with the statue back in place — by Opening Day 2023.
Given that this development qualifies as "high rise" under the rules of this forum, unlike most of Mission Bay, and that it's now underway, I'm going to give it its own thread. It'll have to be in "proposals" for a while as they do site prep but if they hope to finish it in just over 2 years it shouldn't stay there long.

Has there been any talk of the affordable housing planned for Block 4E? That’s the only gap remaining on 3rd now that Mission Rock is underway.

post 2341 is still the latest I know of

(there are also another two non-residential (that is, UCSF-related) gaps on Third: on the NE corner at Mariposa, and the NW corner at 16th)

the CCA housing is indeed taking advantage of the odd street grid to create some extra sidewalk space on the west side of their project

and again with a comparison to the look of the original school building in the background

down the street, AltaPotrero is finally looking just about done

Phase 1 of the 16th St Improvement Project has been moving eastward and is mostly done in front of this project

looking back toward CCA

the little one at 17th and Arkansas

the passage through MasononMariposa is fully opened and I think it looks great

the Minnesota side of 950 Tennessee

traffic lights have gone in at the corner where 19th St will enter Crane Cove Park

waiting for the lawn to be put down

UCSF Psychiatry Center

the utilitarian east (Illinois) side of the Vision Neurosciences building

not sure there is anything going on on the Bayfront Park parcel by Chase Center? this shot looks the same as the last one from this vantage point

I hadn't noticed before, but these dividers have gone in along the Third St sidewalk of Uber. they are wood (as is the ceiling here), and hinged

looks like they are getting ready to start the landscaping between the two buildings soon

the passageway on the west side of Arden is finally open

Lovely photo update timbad!

Edit: Can someone please remind me how tall the towers in Mission Rock will be? Thanks!

Ah thanks for that link. As soon as I posted that I remembered the parking lot at 16th. I thought there were plans for the lot at Mariposa in the works.

along the Creek. looks like maybe there will be a bioswale for run-off between the concrete path next to the buildings and the path closer to the water? (seems I should be able to find a schematic online somewhere)

the Creek work, from the west...

... and the east

Mission Rock (was this going to have its own thread? I'm not pushing for that - I just don't see it, and am asking, to make sure I put photos in the right place)

block 9 behind the Public Safety building has indeed gotten underway, at least with piles...

the hotel in context

Uber getting some landscaping

and pavers and things going in along Third St sidewalk

the bayfront park by Chase Center still seems inactive to me

but, lawns have gone in at Crane Cove Park! looking nice and green

950 Tennessee has gotten more skin

one last look at 2177 Third now that it is pretty much done

the UCSF Psychiatry Center has some glass along the top

over in Potrero Flats, 88 Arkansas coming along

the sidewalk in front of the CCA housing has been poured, maybe with room for a tree

1 de Haro is getting glass as well

Mission Rock got a plug on the Giants broadcast last night. They echoed the timeline mentioned above, saying Phase 1 should be ready by the 2023 baseball season.

This makes me think, “Will I ever feel safe riding Muni again.”

For years I’ve looked forward to the Central Subway and now I wouldn’t ride it or any other Muni vehicle for any reason and even if there’s a vaccine that works it’ll take a good while to trust it.

I have a friend who has a PhD in virology, and he said, from the reports and papers he's read, the Oxford one is showing all good signs and is reason to be positive.

As you know, I think, I'm a retired MD and read everything I can on the subject, scientific and otherwise. I agree with your friend the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine candidate is in the lead but the Moderna, Phizer and J&J candidates also look promising (but don't be surprised if the Chinese and/or the Russians actually start giving the vaccines they are developing to their citizens before any in the West are approved). I am quite sure there will be one, maybe several, vaccines approved in the US by the end of the year and probably they/it will be available to the public early in 2021. But unless it's 80-90% effective or better, which I am less certain about, I will probably still be taking precautions as long as there is any significant community spread. And likely there will be enough people who don't get vaccinated and/or have not recovered from the disease so they are still susceptible to keep sporadic cases popping up. And, of course, the great unknown is how LONG the immunity you get from a vaccine lasts. If it's reliably at least a year, that's OK--I don't mind getting an annual booster along with my flu shot. But it it's only a few months, we've still got trouble.

Anyway, even if I get vaccinated, I think I'll be riding more Uber and less Muni (though right now I'm even afraid to ride in a car with a stranger, aka Uber driver). And there's a good chance I will be wearing an N95 mask the next Muni I take because even before COVID I caught several colds a year, most of them riding Muni I'm quite sure. Actually, one of the good things to come out of the COVID experience may be the increased acceptability of people other than little old Asian ladies wearing masks in public.

Uber pavers along Third St
