probably but not by much. the tallest part will be on the west where the roof peaks.

a taller building is rumored, though, that will go between the Zion and this building.

This is really exciting for Boise. I wish we'd had a boom like this in the 80s when I lived there! Downtown had some cool spots back then but nothing like today's scale and vibrancy.

As for the question about tree-less hills...it's a desert.

sorry, I didn't see this until mhays' response.

he's right, Boise is considered semi-arid, getting less than 12 inches of rain per year on average. however, the city is right on the edge of a mediterranean climate zone in the mountains that get much more precipitation.

it doesn't take long to get from downtown into national forest.

Sawtooth has a lot of pictures from the top of the ridge. looking north, it's pretty much forest, while south is sagebrush desert and canyons.

here's a pic from Mores Mountain above Boise looking north/northeast:

So should this thread be changed to 290'? Where is the extra 40' coming from?

yes, it should. the floor count and height had been fluctuating but finalized at 290 feet and 26 floors once they broke ground. they shaved a little height due to cost.

New image from the Idaho Statesman. On the left, you can see the core rising well above street level now.

drove by the site yesterday, and it's moving pretty fast. the core is already about 4 levels above street level, and they were busy pouring.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

Most likely not yet, until it is jacked up to max height as the tower grows upwards.

These photos are also from Sunday. Look to the left at the cluster of cranes, the blue crane appears to be almost level with the top of the 8th & Idaho Building/Zions Bank.
