1/22/11: Can you dig it like a spigot?

Just playing around with the nifty fifty again today trying to figure it out some more. I really like it!

1/23/11: Birdie.

I took a shot of this cool guy at the local man made pond. It's actually a pretty nice little park.

I hadn't washed my truck in around 2 months, so I figured it was time.

1/26/11. Hustle.

So I took a lonely stroll through the Gaslamp looking for a vantage point or something to take some shots. I thought the top floor of the convention center was a pretty good spot.

Very nice!

One of these days you should head out to Cabrillo and nab a skyline shot.

One of these days.

(I need an awesome zoom lens though, something that I definitely do not have the money for. )

1/28/11: Tip Top.

This fine establishment called Tip Top in Carlsbad is simply amazing. The food is delicious and they've got an awesome little European grocery store/deli. I'll definitely be heading back there soon.

I literally just layed in bed all day, so I took a shot of this New York City subway map on my wall.

‎1/30/11. Flare.

Just played around for a bit after work. I kind of like the way this turned out, aside from the flare.

1/31/11. Cabrillo.

Nothing too special for today. Took a trip to Cabrillo National Monument to enjoy the amazing views and awesome scenery. I can't believe a month has gone by already...

2/1/11: Trails.

This was my first attempt at doing star trails. I think it came out ok (for my first try...). I was testing out my new (to me) 10-22mm lens and my remote shutter release, so mission accomplished. I'll definitely be doing more shots like this. It's fun.

I started doing a second star trail photo with a longer exposure (45 minutes opposed to the 12 minutes of this photo), but my battery died.

Groovy. Finally took a wander through the photos.

Have you been manually focusing much? If not, try manually focusing when you're shooting things close with a shallow depth of field. You get a lot more mileage out of photo ideas when you use the focal range itself as a more important part of the composition.

Coming from the master of photography.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no...I've only been shooting for a month really so thanks for this advice early.

2/2/11: Shine.

I was just playing around the house with my 10-22mm again today still learning. I'm really into night shots right now, I just need some more spare time to explore and find awesome places to shoot.
