i don't think you can make out sears from any part of the michigan avenue bridge, but you can definitely see hancock peaking out from some vantage points.

and if related throws up a super-tall on 400 N LSD........

If this is about naming rights than I hope they win the suit, the tower has been the Tribune Building for almost 100 years and it should stay that way, in my opinion. If it is about the sign than that is a bit petty....

What’s interesting is that, according to the original Tribune article that broke news of this development, the developers did not want to keep the sign—but the Emanuel administration was pushing them to keep it. I wonder if they hope the sign goes but this is their way of saying hey, we tried *shrug* at the community meeting.

Wolf Point South may be visible if it ends up a supertall and 2 Pur is a technical supertall.

i think WPS would need to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,000' tall for someone to be able to see it peaking out over IBM/marina city from the michigan avenue bridge.

so, not impossible, but extremely unlikely.

9 Dekalb Ave looks absolutely gorgeous. I will freak out if this has a similar design.

LOL. That looks to be about 2,500 feet. I get the perspective is tough to suggest, so I'm not making fun. I can't wait to see the actual renders.

Tribune Tower sign spat lands in court

Chicago Tribune
Ryan OriContact Reporter
I read this article this morning and thought it was odd that the Trib wanted to remove their signage from the building. Whats the point of fighting against something that in the end is free advertising? Maybe they want cash for it (they are only receiving $1 for it, per their contract with the developer), or possibly because they want to save on the cost of having a new sign fabricated for when they move to Prudential Plaza?

Nah, it's more like 1600 feet if my scaling is correct. He's not off by much at all. It just looks massive because the entire tower's body is unobstructed, giving a reverse vertigo vibe, like when you stand right underneath the Aon center

The Tribune tower is 462ft which is almost exactly 1/3rd the height of the proposal here of 1388ft. So I just stacked 3 Tribune towers. I'm a little tall still and probably too much in width as well. I originally thought this new tower would take that entire parking lot but apparently it's only taking half, so really skinny for the height. And yeah the perspective plays tricks as well. Oh well, I took under 10 minutes to put it together so I'm not too bummed on the accuracy. rgarri4 threw one up for us as well.

And it will block out that garish green box.

The sign should be covered by the landmarks designation, like the ones on the Marshall Field building.

"Garish green box"

It's a pretty light hue of green, not garish at all...

I was kidding. It's actually a cool reference and I appreciate you doing it.
